Luckily it was prior to bed. Sitting at my computer and BLAM something scares the crap out of me. Turn around to see this.

Remember those fairly large cracks in the ceiling? Well...

So then I leave to pickup the woman at the train station. Get back home and another large piece had fallen. What a damn mess on the floor and on the bed where it fell upon. Already tossed it all away and now an emergency appointment is called in for the guys to finish the work earlier than expected. Just finished doing our roof 2 days ago and wanted to wait a week or 2 to ensure the leak was 100% gone. They are more than confident but as a homeowner just wanna make sure. But apparently the ceiling has other ideas. Lots of water damage in there. Looks like it has/had plywood up there maybe? And then the outer sheetrock of course is gone. So gonna need 2 entire panels of each and investigate everything else for any potential damage in between.

Anyway, 2nd piece that joined his friend.

And before anyone asks, I'm just a dummy and that 10lbs of duct tape from retaping and retaping on my piece of fabric to blackout my windows above the air conditioning. Just didn't wanna damage the wall if I could help it.

No words. Going to bed until ceiling is down, just doesn't sound like good advice. :(

That there is some funny shit! ^^

Can't do anything more but shake my head and then laugh. But yeah, anyone of course is welcome in my home. Yes, the guest bedroom is underneath a huge hole in my ceiling now so sleep in a rain jacket just in case. Hell, bring waders for that fact as well as ya never know when it's gonna rain hard again. And a respirator possibly, as the ceiling looks blackish to me. Either from dirty water or black mold. And if not mold, what happens to things that get soaked repeatedly and then not repaired/properly disinfected? That's right, possibly black mold. :dunno:

Nah, truth is worse, that's basically my room. And Nikoh's room. And my computer room. And fishy room.

Guest room is actually now the master bedroom as wife and I moved upstairs to hide from the kids hoping they wouldn't find us.

Holy crap! That's a lot of damage and going to be very expensive.

This is from that tree branch wearing a hole in your roofing?

Were the animals (and fish) freaked-out?

Remember that lengthy ICU/hospital stay and having to learn to walk and basically think again? Not to mention instant 50 lb weight loss  . Lung infection from sleeping around mold.

Might want to get that checked.

That's what spurred it. It started very very tiny and we were planning on a new roof, but life got in the way for a bit and perhaps whatever happened up there only grew worse. I think a MUCH larger branch probably fell if that's what did the damage. No way that dangling, light & thin branches that scraped against it caused this problem.

Anyway roof is repaired and confident it will be leak free. NOT doing a new roof as I'm done putting money into this place.

So now it will need a minimum of 2 sheetrock panels, out insulation board of some sort, then regular insulation underneath. Plus labor. And this is NY prices.

The hole in the roof was MUCH smaller btw, this area is all from water damage. Gets me in the yard, gets me in the garage and basement. And now it finds me hiding in this room.

Temporarily takes precedent over vehicle getting repaired, but just at the point of waiting on police report anyway. AND I believe we are going to leave this on hold, wait for her insurance and then file with them directly - which would ensure no deductible and ensure my rates or anything else doesn't go up.

Nikoh was on the bed that it fell on!! She only got nailed with a bunch of crumbs and ran faster from there than any dog in the Iditarod! She was none too happy. But perfectly fine and still lays down on beds. :) Nero was downstairs thankfully otherwise he would be hiding in a closet for a month.

Oh yeah, getting it all ripped out and removed ASAP and have them check for any lingering issues anywhere. Should probably have the entire room tested somehow as my wife called it a "bacterial cesspool" long long prior to the roof issue.

You and I both! But with Nikoh, if I gave her a cookie she would have jumped right back on the bed, debris and all. She's quite intelligent but cookies rule over everything. Except for squirrels and chipmunks.

We are covered for fires, just sayin' :coffee:

You never know what may happen.

I'm liable to be on vacation with the entire family, brought all pets and fishies with me, and all of my possessions, as do the rest of the family - would be just horrible to find it as nothing but ashes left. I might even cry. Tears of joy that would be!

It's a wonderfully beautiful neighborhood with one of the lowest crime rates, for New York. But the people suck. Most of 'em anyway.

As for the house, the grading issue and water problems, perhaps I made a mistake or 2 over the years with a little fire incident and a fishy tank that started draining into my stairwell and my repair job sucks, because I'm not a damn mason or contractor. I fix computer issues, not stairwell issues. So I'm not perfect. But those are just little things. But mainly water issues and some bad luck.

This is how I feel sometimes over the years, from all the stupid work the former owner did on some wiring, coaxial cable, painting and other stupid stuff.

And then my day goes just like this one:
