Not sure what the fix is, but I'm pretty sure running from battle and leaving the field to scavengers isn't it.

Leaving because of partisanship will have the end result of increasing partisanship. Oddly all of the dems leaving could have enhanced bipartisanship by backing McCarthy two months ago. Those Republicans leaving could also likely have done more to advance what they see is lacking.
