So the most interesting parts that I heard from
@DeptofDefense
briefing.

They plan on building a floating pier - a RRDF (roll-on/roll-off discharge facility); offload cargo onto the RRDF, transfer it to a
@USArmy
LSV (landing ship vehicle); and then sail it to the pier attached to land.

1⃣ The material for the RRDF is either onboard prepositioning ships in the Indian or Pacific ocean, or in Norfolk. It would need to be moved to Gaza (coming through the Red Sea could be an issue).
2⃣ There are 8 US Army LSVs - 2 in Hawaii and 6 in Norfolk. They have a best speed of 12 knots (that is optimistic). It is 5,500 nautical miles and that is a voyage of at least 19 days.
3⃣ I am not sure how the Army will anchor the pier to the shore without going on land. Plus you will need shoreside support to move the containers and material off the LSVs.

Based on AIS information from
@MarineTraffic
, none of the Norfolk LSVs have sailed (although Smalls has been off line for several months while in a shipyard).

And they are going to try and deliver these supplies to WHO, exactly? I'm pretty sure it won't be the mayor and city council taking charge of any supplies landed. Meaning we are going to feed and provide medical supplies to Hamas:rolleyes:
