Valentine's Day is one week away! Who are the romantics who are already planning for the day? Who will just put something together at the last minute? How do you observe the day?

Valentine's Day? Wuz that? Wait, now I remember, that's when flower prices skyrocket and there is chocolate everywhere and girls get all giddy. All about the same time we get our bills in from Christmas, right?:dev3:

Force, coerced, expected, annual, predictable, and/or mass produced romance is not romance, imo.

Besides... it's the 2nd ugliest holiday. Pink & red? :puke:

I resent having to buy something for my wife just because the calendar says February 14th. This year, it falls on a Wednesday, but we have already scheduled stuff that day, so we're postponing until Friday the 16th.

I still appreciate a sweet card with handwritten expressions of undying love. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/love/144.gif

honestly, i prefer something done for me rather than bought items like chocolate and candy and trinkets that collect dust. I liked what my husband did last year: He took the day off, took my car from my work parking lot, and had it detailed inside and out, and put it right back where it was (amazingly enough) with a rose and card attached to one the wipers, all while I was in at work, and I had no idea that he had done all this, so I came out to a car I barely recognized because it was so clean, shiny, and scratch free!

I tell him that if he does want to buy something, make it something I can actually use, like cooking gadgets or a new counter appliance (i asked for a new 4-slot toaster in stainless steel).

Nah... I'll let him bumble along, and I'll love him for the fact that he cares enough to remember. :)

Not being in the same city, flowers on the doorstep will have to suffice on the day.

But she's coming to visit this weekend!
