In a car, I think the fastest I've driven for more than a couple seconds, is ~140mph. On a bike? I pegged my old scooter at 156 for about a mile or so.

Of COURSE these were on either a closed-course, or on an Autobahn.

:D

When I had my Mitsubishi Starion (1988) - I had the needle pinned at 120 down the Florida Turnpike.

ooh! was it a turbo starion??? Those could be made to be quite fast!

I just gotta say, Abbey - WHENEVER I glance at your sig - maybe it's cuz I'm a guy? I dunno...but I almost ALWAYS read/see that s "Blessed be my rack..." To which I'd say, your sig would be worthless w/o pics. :)

'72 Ford LTD, speedo only read to 120, "pin" set at 125, still accelerating before I backed off. My guess was 130. Brakes good, tires fair.

Of course w/ the speedometer error factor of a 1970's car...that mighta been 85mph, or 150. :D

Somewhere between $1.50 and $1.55 on my Kawasaki KZ1000 going acrossed the Gandy Bridge between Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida. The speedo was hard to focus on, because my head was buffeting back and forth pretty bad because of the wind, and the bike had more. Too cool.

Yes it was a Turbo Starion. Jim was quite pissed when I traded it in. He used it more than I did and never lost a race! Not long before I got rid of it, I had my daughter in the car, and we were racing a corvette from red light to red light, finally we came to quite a long light, when I heard the passenger in the Vette say "Holy shit, it's an old lady". Needless to say the car got traded in shortly thereafter!!

Very fast. I had a 1976 Fairlady Z I brought back from Japan. It had a 3.1 liter with triple mikuni's (2.8 bored to 3.0 and stroked to 3.1). I pegged the speedo at 220 kmh in 5th gear @ 4300 rpm and kept going until I reached 6800 rpm. It had a G-nose with front air dam so she stayed low and tight to the 15 as I drove to Vegas from San Diego.

Last week I rode in a Citation that also did .83 mach. Palomar Airport to Havasu in 30 minutes.

Did mach 1.6 in an F-16 two seater out of MacDill AFB. Was so smooth, you never knew it.

:DI was on a business trip to Baumholder, Germany, near the Belgium border and wanted to visit my in-laws in Bayreuth, Germany near the Chek border in Bavaria... I had a brand new BMW rental and I did the trip in three hours averaging 250Klm per hour... I was passed three time by sports cars. I slowed down two time, once for construction and once when I saw a VW Beatle with a deer laying in the windshield.

The year was 1991, the road was I-15 fifty miles north of San Diego, the speed - 120 in a brand new celica. The asswipe that made me - newer benz who thought he was shizzle of the road

he was, I lost, damn car topped out

:(

Oh yeah, I was 16, does that count for "extra" speed points?

Wow... I've never topped 95, but that was in a '79 Chevy half ton pickup.

The fastest my Kia will go is about 90, even though the spedometer goes up to 120.
