Jon,

Can my father-in-law hunt one of those elk on his land? - seriously...

You should have had one of those elk stand on the right side of the frame for more balance. They're YOUR models...work 'em!

:D

Beautiful! Being new to all of this nature stuff, just moved up here to maine, how do you know if you are seeing elk verses deer if you are looking at a doe? Do they just look the same as deer but they are bigger?

Cows are alot bigger than does. and the coloring is different. a calf is almost as big as a whitetail i wanna say. the elk are also darker JD

I tried to get them to cooperate, but unfortunately these elk belong to the IEM (International Elk Models) union. It was hard enough to get them to stand there for the picture without smoking or otherwise taking a break. That, and I guess that their contract states that they don't have to take direction from a photographer not belonging to their union.

I did what I could, with what I had available.

The original pic was better, IMO. This one looks too staged!

I don't know why it would look staged?

I mean, I just flipped the image horizontally and blended in the "new" elk. ;)
