Liberalism is a mental disorder..:coffee:

Most Senators have left Washington for the Thanksgiving recess, but a few Democrats are keeping the Senate in business, technically speaking: The skeleton crew isn't actually doing anything besides giving the non-voting sessions in and out twice a week. Majority Leader Harry Reid says this gambit is intended to thwart "controversial recess appointments."

So who are these threats to the Republic? The Beltway rumor was that Public Enemy No. 1 was James Holsinger Jr., President Bush's nominee for Surgeon General. The Kentucky cardiologist is an abomination to liberals because, 16 years ago, he wrote that gay sex is "incompatible with Christian teaching." At his July confirmation hearing, he said that view, expressed in a church paper, "does not represent where I am today."

If that's the disqualifying standard, we could hardly fault Mr. Bush for bypassing the Senate to install Dr. Holsinger, who says he would use the Surgeon General's bully pulpit to call attention to "the obesity epidemic."

...The real story is that Democrats are opting for a stunt to show their MoveOn.org base that the party is "confronting" Mr. Bush. In a micro session Tuesday, Virginia Democrat Jim Webb presided over an empty chamber for less than a minute, then left. Come to think of it, given their accomplishments so far, Democrats might as well have spent the entire fall doing the same thing.

can't access the rest of the article(subscription)...but I figured this snippet was PLENTY....:laugh2:

Perhaps the prez should use some of his powers after the omnibus budget is approved...

Section 3. He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in case of disagreement between them, with respect to the time of adjournment, he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper; he shall receive ambassadors and other public ministers; he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed, and shall commission all the officers of the United States.

Perhaps he could have them work over Christmas and have a joint meeting every morning seven days a week at 6:00AM until they send him war funding or legislation indicating they will not fund the war.

As with all of our kings appointments and nominees they are at best questionable for the national good in the jobs chosen for. I would love to have Bush call for a special session as it would mean he should actually be in washington too, instead of Crawford.
