For a while there I was right under 60k and believe me...I wasnt anywhere near being rich. And that was almost 5 years ago!

Rich = Any household making $100,000/year in MY zip code. In Bellevue, WA, for example, that'd be soundly 'middle class'.

I believe it was in Bellevue WA the state helped fund a program for Low-Income families to afford housing. The cut off, if I recall, was the family had to make LESS than $88K/ year.

VERY well off in MY zip code? $85K per year.
Well-off? $65K
Middle-of-the-road? $50K

Compared to the worldwide average, 60K puts you in the top 1%.

But in the USA, it's very middle class.

I likely can't afford to live in the same county as my son unless I make 70k or above, and even then it would be in a crime ridden area. I used to think 60k was rich.

I have some good news and I have some bad news

1. The good news is since the Democrats won control of the Congress in November, they've formulated a plan to make us all rich.

2. The bad news is their plan is to redefine "rich" to be anyone making anything above the minimum wage.....

3. The other bad news is, that they're getting rid of that "tax cut for the rich"

More good news/bad news

1. The good news is that Congress has decided to reduce the work week from 5 days to 4!

2. The bad news is, the reduced work week only applies to members of Congress

Good News/Bad News Part III

1. The good news is that Nancy Pelosi is a master at multitasking!

2. The bad news is that she's simultaneously working on weakening our ability to defend ourselves, undermining our economy and mortgaging the financial future of the next few generations of Americans.

I'm over 60K a year, but here in the rich mans playground, where the average house costs $417,000.00, I'm a poor little apartment dweller. Sure I have an upscale apartment with garage, but it's still a damn apartment. If I was making what I am now and still lived back in dorksville, Wisconsin, where I left years ago, I'd be living on a 50 acre ranchette with a seven bedroom house and four stall garage with shop. Point is, it really depends on where you live to define rich or poor. What I make here doesn't go very far, but back in Wisconsin I'd be the upper crust.

NO... I will NEVER move back to chedderland.
