I'm asking this because of signature settings. We are asking members to keep their signatures to no more than 5 lines - but this will appear differently depending on what your settings are. What may appear as 4 lines to someone with a resolution of 1600 might appear as 10 lines to someone with 800x600!

Just trying to find an 'average' of what the board might be using.

1600x1200. 20" LCD

Also - folk jacking up their font sizes (if they are hard-of-seeing) can add lines.

I just wish we could go back to longer signatures.

Never. :( Long sigs are lame. I've been on sites where sigs weren't kept in check - threads would become 20000 lines long, with only a few replies. :(

1280 X 1024 is the highest resolution my video card will support, and my computer is only a year old. An HP Pavillion a1610n.

thats a fact, long, fancy sigs bog load time, period. heck, even the mooslems know it, they now have a restriction on sigs too. soon, we may have WWW2 and with modern "channels" we can actually be looking at fancy, video laden or whatever sigs, instantly. but the time is not here.

btw, why do some get so uppity over sigs?

1920 X 1080 at home, 1280X1024 at work

You might be better off hard limiting line length and number of lines for signatures. If you limit sigs to maximum 100 characters per line, and maximum 5 lines, then signatures will always be the same vertical length on the board.

That is, unless 100 characters wraps on someone's 640X480 screen rez. :poke:
