View Full Version : How long will democracy last?

[quote]How Long Do We Have? About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenia Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'
'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'
'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'
'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.'
'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence:
8. From dependence back into bondage.'
Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Number of States won by:
Gore: 19
Bush: 29
Square miles of land won by:
Gore: 580,000
Bush: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by:
Gore: 127 million
Bush: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore: 13.2
Bush: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...'
Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years. [quote]

Sorry bout that,
1. This is factual.
2. America has to get back to its roots.
3. The GD Neo~Liberals are ruining this *GREAT NATION*!
4. How is it they they can't see the thing that they love the most, they are killing it?
5. They on the most part have good intentions.
6. But the good thing they think they do, does no good at all, and that thing for which they think is good, is in fact very bad.
7. Thats why ( I ), *THE GREAT CWN* am here, to point it out.
8. The things the Neo~Liberals stand for, is what is slowing undermining this *GREAT NATION*.

This e-mail is junk. First, what other "great civilization" had democracy like America does? Greece, maybe? Rome, before the empire? That's about it. Athen's period of democracy lasted roughly 200 years, but ended because of the rise of Alexander the Great, not because of apathy or dependency. And the Roman Republic lasted almost 500 years, not 200.

Utter nonsense.
Sheer stupidity.
Bush's territory was the sparsely-populated land of the misfits and malcontents. Gore's was the cities were society's most productive and talented live.

Muslims who pretend to be perfect are no different from christians who pretend to be perfect.
Muslims who cant question or challenge their faith, even to themselves are more likely in my opinion to be the ones screaming allah akbar.
also, if you think all people of one race or religion do the same or dont do the same thing, then youre wrong.
some jews eat pork, and i bet you some muslims do too.

Indeed. That's why I said:

how about this statement, this is what im talking about!
http://thinkexist.com/quotation/a-nation-can-survive-its-fools-and-even-the/365612.html
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

The republicans/conservatives are plain out in the open with their treasonous actions. No one else is working to destroy the USA! Besides outside forces that is.
