Kant
"Live your life as though your every act were to become a universal law."

I thought it was brilliant.

14 words that just about cover my entire moral platform.

I Kant believe it.

Every criminal would love this...why don't you like the rule of law?

Just follow the Golden rule. It's been around a lot longer than Kant.

Just purusing quotes sites.

This says the same thing as the golden rule basically.

I wish all people who professed to believe in the golden rule would follow it.

If I were as masochisitic as you are , I sure wish someone would tell me about it.

If I went to a basically liberal site and antagonized them, Im pretty sure I could expect to get my shit jumped. I guess she likes it.

Presenting ones view of the world to people who seldom get a chance to hear views differnt from thier own is not antagonizing people.

Its funny you should think so.

she just assumes that she is smarter than everyone and that only she has evaluated both sides of an issue and only she has come to the correct conclusion.....

You don't really believe that you are the only one that drops in here to deride Christians or liberals , do you ?

Raskolnikov wrestled with that a bit in Crime and Punishment. The "superman" complex, I believe--above it all.

And this isn't antagonizing? Or, are you psychic? If it's the latter, does JA know I'm alive? He's soooooooooo cute. :o

Continually insinuating that people here
seldom get a chance to hear views differnt from thier own is simply not true and there ample evidence of that if you read. Why do you feel this need to create enemies ?

Different formulation. Kant was looking at how an act should be judged. I always remember it as, "what if we ALL did it?"

In other words, before doing something one should think of the consequences of everyone acting in the same manner ?

From the very little I know of Kant (I tried to read the original and gave up) yes, I think that's what he was getting at. Again from what I've read, his idea has been savagely criticised over the years but I'm not up to defending or attacking it with any credibility.
