To be honest, I think it depends on the situation. If I had the chance to think about it, I would do anything including giving up my life to protect the lives of my wife, children, parents and probably any innocent person, but honestly if it were something like a split second decision and someone was holding a gun at me and I knew, say my wife, was behind me, I would naturally dive for the nearest cover as a gut reaction.
