I have heard on other sites that they should not even been created and that it is all Israels fault. So where do y'all stand.

Personally I think Israel is just defending themselves and have done so from teh beginning.

The allied powers "won" WWI and part of the spoils of war was the chance to divvy up the remnants of the Ottoman Empire. Those goofy turks had ruled the entire area with an iron fist for nearly a milennium. The slice called "palestine" was claimed by the british. After WWII, they offered it up to the UN who sliced it into two sections: a jewish section and an arab section. "Palestinians" had not "owned" that land since before the Ottomans took over.... their claim was certainly no greater than the Jews....

The arabs were not happy with that division and they decided they wanted it all and started a war in 1948 to kick the jews out and reclaim it all.

Had they accepted the division of the territory by the UN, Jerusalem would be the capital of Palestine today. They chose not to.... they fought that war - OF THEIR CHOICE - and they lost that war.

Sorry. They lost their land. Spoils of war. Guess they should have taken what the UN gave them. Ooops.

How much of it did Amercan taxpayers get ? Lord knows we've given them billions.
