The part where liberals expect us to shut up about Reverend Wright simply because it hurts Senator Obama.
If we were as industrious to become good as to make ourselves great, we should become really great by being good, and the number of valuable men would be much increased; but it is a grand mistake to think of being great without goodness; and i pronounce it as certain that there was never yet a truly great man that was not at the same time truly virtuous." - Ben Franklin
Imagine what good we can do if we all joined together, united as followers of Christ - M. Russell Ballard
so you're complaining about free speech by the press exercising their right of free speech to criticize wright? you're funny.
Before enlightenment - chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment - chop wood, carry water. ~Zen Buddhist Proverb
Jeremiah Wright absolutely has the right to say everything he has said, and far more. And I strongly encourage him to exercise that right as much and a s frequently as he can. I can think of no better way to show the American people just how twisted, bitter, and racist this man is... and to raise questions in their minds about what kind of personality would adhere to such a twisted racist for twenty years.
The rest of the media also has the absolute right to say what they want to about Wright and what he says, as long as they don't directly lie and defame the man unjustly - which as far as I know, none have done. They can object to him, or they can defend him, or some of both, etc.
Freedom of speech is one of our most precious rights - something that may come as news to the two authors of the McCain-Feingold so-called "Campaign Finance Reform Act", which DOES unconstitutionally restrict speech.
BTW, there is no right to not have your feelings hurt by what people say about you. Some people seem to believe they have that right. They have a lot to learn. But with the freedom of speech we all have, they'll probably learn it pretty quickly.

"Reverend Jeremiah Wright appeared on PBS Bill Moyers Journal on Friday night and delivered a knockout punch to the bully-boys in the corporate media. Wright showed that he is neither a fanatic nor an “America hater”; just an extremely well-read and principled man with an unshakable commitment to justice. Wright has also paid his dues; he's an ex-Marine who served as a medic in Vietnam when most of his critics were either hiding behind their student deferments or languishing in the "Champagne Unit" of the Texas National Guard.
Rev. Jeremiah Wright:
"And the United States of America government, when it came to treating her citizens of Indian descent fairly, she failed. She put them on reservations. When it came to treating her citizens of Japanese descent fairly, she failed. She put them in internment prison camps. When it came to treating citizens of African descent fairly, America failed. She put them in chains. The government put them on slave quarters, put them on auction blocks, put them in cotton fields, put them in inferior schools, put them in substandard housing, put them in scientific experiments, put them in the lowest paying jobs, put them outside the equal protection of the law, kept them out of their racist bastions of higher education and locked them into position of hopelessness and helplessness. The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law, and then wants us to sing God bless America? No, no, no. Not God bless America; God damn America!”
No one disputes Wright's summary of US history.""

Thanks to Moyers, he came out looking nearly reasonable. Then came yesterday and NAACP, a little less reasonable. Then today at the Press Club, back to

Given that Wright has been on a four-day speaking tour, and has spoken at the Washington Press Club, I don't think you can make a case that his Freedom of Speech has been abridged, Gabosaurus!
Freedom of Speech means the government can't stop you saying what you want to say.
It does not mean you are entitled to applause.
It does not mean you are entitled to a large and sympathetic audience.
It does not mean people can't boo what you say.
I'm always amazed that so many people think "freedom of speech" means people have to all listen to someone respectfully and agree with them!!!!
It doesn't mean that at all. It just means the GOVERNMENT can't throw you in the clink for saying something.
