    Default what makes excellent music?

the rythem, beat, vocals, lyrics, bass, drums, guitar, other instruments?

I notice that all a sudden, i dont like a lot of the music I thought i did.

Hearing songs like: Todd Rundgren - Hello Its me and 10cc - i'm not in love

make me so how hard it is to actual make a real song, not just a bunch of blaring simplistic guitars, and stupid lyrics

Whatever moves you. That is what makes excellent music. Individual taste makes any other explanation pointless.

I completely disagree, rap and hip hop music have absolutely no value musically as any idiot can write poetry which is what rap is, any moron can steal someone's else's song, or just use the same beat over and over.

There is actually crafting a song, and some good stuff, and then just crap.

The most important thing in a song is the bass, the bass is the solid backbone of the rhythm of any song. The drum are 2nd most important they are your beat, and together, they are the most important key ingredients to any masterpiece.

They have no value musically to you and I, but, no matter how bad we think it is, there is no denying that there are some to whom Rap and Hip-Hop speak. They find value in it, it is their music. It appeals to them, they identify with it.

I could sit here all day and scream from the rafters that Jimmy Buffett is the greatest performer to ever grace a stage. I could shout all day about what a great songwriter and storyteller he is. And millions of his fans would agree with me, and we'd all be right. But there will be millions more who will say, "Bullshit! Kurt Cabain is the greatest who ever lived!", and they'd be right. For them.

So, I go back to my original statement: Whatever moves you. That is what makes excellent music.

I think this argument should be had, because, people like you and me, who can think, not ghetto tards, can think.

and explain what makes a song,or band musically special

I'm not saying the discussion shouldn't be had, and I am not trying to discourage one. I'm merely stating my opinion. My opinion is that what constitues good or excellent music is a matter of individual taste and you will not be able to reach a consensus.

I think this is the smartest thing you've ever posted. The bass is, in fact, the backbone of any good band.

Bass + drums = rap music

While I admit the vast, vast majority of popular rap songs are garbage, there are great rap acts out there, those who take what is, yes, essentially talking over a repeating beat, and making something great and original out of it.

Hundreds of thousands wear their ball cap sideways, drive greasy shit cars Afro engineered with giant rims and silly low profile tires, fake ports on the side of the hood, 6 video screens playing crap, laying down so they can't see above the dash........ so what if they disagree, they have no taste or class.
