Default Northwest Airlines plane damaged during flight

NWA downplays in-flight damage to jet Sunday; nobody injured

The nose cone of a Northwest Airlines plane was dented during a flight Sunday from Detroit to Tampa, Fla., without compromising the safety of the 182 passengers on board, the airlines said.
The damage happened during the flight, but it didn't affect Flight 478's scheduled 2:30 p.m. landing in Tampa, Northwest spokeswoman Kristin Baur told Cable News Network.
Baur called the damage a "minor maintenance issue" and a "very rare occurrence."
Pictures sold to CNN by a passenger awaiting the plane's next leg, to the Twin Cities, show the nose cone bashed in. The plane was towed away, the passenger said.
The plane may have crossed paths with a bird during the flight, KARE-TV reported.

Ok, there are a few things wrong with this. First one is that there are no birds that can fly at 18,000 feet. Second one is of course no one was injured. Unless some of the passengers were strapped to the outside of the plane at the time, there was no risk for injury. Plus if they were strapped out there, we'd have witnesses as to what the plane hit or what hit the plane. Then again, the nose-cone isn't soundproof. You would think that the pilots at least heard a loud 'thump'. It isn't like they can hit potholes up there and not blink an eye.

But... this is Northwest Airlines... maybe the pilots were tipping a few of the mini-drinks back up there...

And the reason you think the bird strike or whatever, happened at 18,000 feet is....??

    It ran into a UFO.

    It's the only possible explanation.

You know you already thought of that.
