Default Bill To Aid Paralyzed Vets Blocked In Senate

A nation that doesn't understand how to take care of it's veterans has no business making new ones. I don't remember where I heard that but I agree with it completely.

A bill promising more money for programs that help paralyzed veterans is part of a bundle of legislation tied up in partisan bickering in the Senate.

The Christopher Reeve and Dana Reeve Act, which includes money for research into spinal cord injuries, is one of about 36 bills combined by Senate Democrats into what they are calling the Advancing America’s Priorities Act.

The bills have been bundled in an attempt to bypass objections from Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who has used senatorial privileges and procedures to stop action on several bills, including the spinal cord injury bill.

The Democratic plan failed Monday on a 50-42 vote, leaving them short of the 60 votes needed to cut off debate on the package............

What other pork was loaded into those bills by the Demorats? Standard move by them, they title a bill to make it look like they give a shit only to try to sneak in a bridge to nowhere in it, the Republicans aren't going to let them get a way with their obvious vote buying schemes.

And just for your information, zero, that "bridge to nowhere" of which you speak is the product of one very Republican crook by the name of Ted Stevens of Alaska. Even the Democrats couldn't easily overpower that piece of garbage from the earmark specialists in chief, the freakin' Republicans!!!!!!!!! You ought to see what we have to put up with in Mississippi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am all for helping veterans

I am against any bill with pork barrel spending.

We need to outlaw earmarks, and stop their practice.

then we can have bills for what their intended for, and stop this game of, the help the veterans, and sneak in pork, and like that its only to help veterans

this game goes on, in every bill and it needs to stop

Uhhhhhhh,,,,,,stevie,,,,,John Murtha is a Congressman, a district rep, not included in Senate deliberations at all. Ted, on the other hand, well Ted is every bit the crook as Jack Abramoff but without the lobbyist exemptions and with enormous senatorial powers. You do understand the budget and senatorial powers, don't you?

The article doesn't say, but I wonder of the Reeve Act has provision for controversial stem cell research.
