Hot spices!!
I have eaten in a lot of different places, but it is hard to equal New Orleans. We went to a small place called the Gumbo Shop and discovered the almost unthinkable -- a food too hot for my husband to eat.
Naturally, I wanted the magical ingredient. A regional product called "Slap Yo Mammy!" It will have you screaming for mercy.

Great music, great food, great people, and plenty of booze. New Orleans. I love that town.
Memphis is much the same and a town well worth spending time in.

I've never been to Memphis. Perhaps I need to some day.
I had never been to New Orleans before Wednesday. We even took our daughter to Bourbon Street.

Gabo, Memphis is a must. The birth place of Blues, Graceland, BBQ, the Civil Rights Museum, and more. The Civil Rights Museum is at what was once the Lorraine Motel, the site of MLK's assassination.
