Default It's always fun to be sued

When I was a grad student at Cal, I worked on a case where a 10-year-old girl was being abused by her stepfather. Her mother didn't believe her, so the girl confided in a neighbor, who called police. The stepfather was eventually sent to jail.
A lawyer retained by the mother got him out of jail. Now he is suing everyone involved for "damaging his character." Including me.
Never been sued before. I am sure a good time will be had by all.

Hey, let's all hear it for alternative lifestyles and free love...and the skewed concept that if we just make ourselves happy, our children will be happy too...and the traditional family is old news and should be scrapped.

I'll bet the girls real dad didn't rape her.

You were spouting shit about "alternative lifestyles" and "free love" and the "traditional family". WTF does that have to do with some guy abusing his stepfather?
Unless you are saying that remarriage leads to child abuse. Which is a totally fucked up idea.

I think you mean a stepfather abusing his stepdaughter? About 8 times more likely than biological father:

With the increase in the divorce rates, more children are at greater risk than ever. Women, in their attempts to find a mate, may unwittingly be putting their children at greater risk for sexual abuse from the men they date. If the mother remarries, according to a survey done by Russell, the "stepdaughters are over eight times more at risk of sexual abuse by the stepfathers who reared them than are daughters reared by their biological fathers." (Russell, 1986, p. 103) "As some researchers have begun to suspect, it may be the case that a growing number of stepfathers are really 'smart pedophiles', men who marry divorced or single women with families as a way of getting close to children." (Crewdson, 1988, p. 31)

Work in detention for a while, and see how many kids come through who have been brutalized by step fathers and boyfriends of their mothers. Then talk to me, dumbass.

This is one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard lol.

Cuz "real fathers" don't rape their children ever right? And step fathers are more likely to rape than their real fathers, right? Mothers getting remarried, for unknown reasons to you, are an "alternative" lifestyle?

    Remarrying is "free love?"

I hope this was in jest!

I would think that YOU would have a certain degree of immunity due to being a student at the time so any liability should either fall upon your overseeing counselor, or the school. I would check into that if I were you. Students generally have a buffer against legal action unless you purposefully do something.
