I get to see Sarah Palin in person!

She's gonna be here on Friday and I'm going! I just picked up my free tickets from one of McCain's offices here.

She and McCain are going to be at the Anoka County Blaine airport (why they chose this spot is beyond me, but whatever...), which is only 15 minutes from my house, and ironically, only 5 minutes from my PT job. The event is at noon and I have permission from the parents of the boy I nanny for, to pick him up from school early (he gets out at 12:15) and take him with me.

I will get lots of pics and I will try to get clear video and put it on YouTube for everyone here.

I got to see Al Gore in Tampa for a few minutes in 2000.

I had to weave my way through all the supporters (AND TRY TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT) as I was leaving work. Neither of those tasks were very easy.

I got there, but there were so many people (more than I would have expected, given the short-notice of the event) packed in the hangar, and lots of us were outside, trying to see in, and you couldn't really hear anything clearly enough. The acoustics in there were not meant for this kind of thing of course.

My zoom on my digital camera wasn't enough to really get anything clear, picturewise.

However, I did have a friend that was there, and he was able to get pretty close up, so I will see if he can forward pics to me.

The local news station and talk radio station estimated that there were over 13,000 people at the event today. This is a very small, municipal airport that caters to the prop-jobs and chopper flight schools.

I just saw McCain and Palin at the rally here in town. It was packed. There were some protesters, but they got drowned out by the crowd. It was actually kind of fun.
