New board side column

I added a new left column to the board. This column can either be on the left, where it currently is, or on the right. It's capable of having from 1-5 boxes, 4 of which are currently displayed. I also have it set to only be shown on the forum home page, not when viewing threads.

My initial thoughts were to have it promote a few of my other sites, as that's obvious by the current contents. This can easily be changed to whatever we like. Some examples - Top posters, top reputations, member awards, links to political sites of interests, current political polls... All html is allowed and I'll be updating myself, so any suggestion is fair game.

Let me know your thoughts on this. I can leave it as is, change it to a right column, update the boxes to what the members prefer as a majority, or remove the column altogether. If you would prefer something else displayed, please also offer a suggestion!

Updated to mention that I added a poll in the first box about the 2008 election, as an example of other things these boxes can be used for.

I won't lie, my initial thoughts were that this was a good way to mention a couple of my other sites, but I also have no problem giving way to the community for more interesting context, or removal altogether, so I'll wait for member feedback...

Maybe that's why I didn't like it on the left.. It was so large.

But I do like it better on the other side..
