Default Congratulations to President Elect Obama

My congratulations President Elect Obama. Although, I have for almost two years now said that I do not like you and would not vote for you, and I did not, I pray much success upon you and your Presidency.

I listened to your victory speech and was heartened in some respects. I fear for my freedom as a white American and a conservative, but hope those are just the jitters of someone who doesn't know you personally.

I pray you will be an uniter not the divider your predecessor proved to be. I pray that you will be a success in bringing about an end to the War in Iraq and bringing our soldiers home safe with victory in their hearts. I pray you can work to end the financial crisis that this nation is fighting today. I pray for your success in battling the health care crisis and I pray that the worries of my conservative friends will be nothing but fear of the unknown as time goes by.

I pray for your health and that of your family.

May God Protect you and enlighten you throughout your Presidency. May you serve this nation and its God faithfully. May the care and concern that you portrayed for this nation this early morning in November permeate through all of Washington and into the hearts of Americans, whether they are White, Black, Yellow or Brown, whether they are conservative or liberal or somewhere in between. I pray that that care you showed was sincere. May we look back someday in the future when we elect a new President and say, "a mirror of the Obama Presidency is a goal that this new President should strive to attain."

God Bless You and these United States,

    Immie

Immie: You give me hope for the right wing. I think it is your religious convictions that enable you to bridge the partisan gap that so many right wingers here are unable to cross.

    Thanks for your post.

    Thanks for your post.
Why exactly is it the right that needs to be bridging partisan gaps?

Ill congratulate Senator Obama as well. And I hope he is nothing like the person he ran as. I hope he leaves his radical viewpoints in the past and starts doing things that are beneficial to the country. However, Im not going to hold my breath.

Well, it's over now and time for us all to work together in getting our country back in the direction it should be going rather than that of destruction. Doesn't matter which party we are from. What matters is that we all the love America and want her to have a comeback and do well. We want her to be the super power she once was and to be respected by other nations. We can do this by working together rather than remaining divided.

You want a punchline? Here's one for ya! Deal with it and try to make your world a better place. Stop all the hate filled rhetoric. Be a bigger person and let the crapola roll off your shoulders.

It is what it is and out of your control. You can either live in hate or you can come out into the light and enjoy the world.

I know many posters here don't give a shit what people in other countries think of the US. And that's fair enough, I must admit I sometimes don't give a shit what people in other countries think of mine either....but they only think of it when someone here gets taken by a shark or a saltwater crocodile goes amok in a campsite and eats half a dozen people. Although there was this prick in British paper the other day who accused the US and us of anti-intellectualism. Us? Anti-intellectual? Fucking pointy head, what would he know?

    Anyway, where was I?

Oh yes, I remember. The other day I was listening to a BBC World Service radio report from one of their correspondents in Niger. Remember Niger? Yellowcake?

Sorry, off point again. Anyway this Brit bloke was in a small village in Niger and was speaking with the locals (this was before election night) and they were discussing how they thought Obama would win and that it would be a good result for America and the world. In a dusty little village in Niger where a battery-operated radio was contact with the rest of the word, villagers were discussing the presidential election in the US.

My point? My point is that some of you might not give a shit what the rest of us think, but think we do. And you might believe we think ill, but we don't. We really don't.

I think and I hope Obama will be good for you. I want him to be good for you because if he can help the US recover its former status in the eyes of the world (those of you who don't give a shit can start hooting in derision right now) then the rest of us (bar the absolute nutter nations) will be well pleased.

Anyway, for those who give a rat's arse, America's stocks with the rest of the reasonable world skyrocketed yesterday.

Ive been thinking about it. I'll give Senator Obama a chance. If he proposes something I oppose ill fight him on it. I have little expectations. But I refuse to act as the liberals did with President Bush. People can change. Im just not expecting it.
