In all fairness, the military is full of a lot of the same conspiracy-theory believing type far right people as here, so it would only make sense that they would be "wary" of Obama.
from Army times
“Being that the Marine Corps can be sent anywhere in the world with the snap of his fingers, nobody has confidence in this guy as commander in chief,” said one lance corporal who asked not to be identified.
For eight years, members of the U.S. military have served under a Republican commander in chief who reflected their generally conservative views and led them to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Now, the troops face change not only at the very top of the chain of command, as Obama nears his Jan. 20 inauguration, but perhaps in mission, policy and values.
Its a poll of active duty personnel who are subscribers of a magazine. It doesn't represent a true cross-section of the military.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself."
Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC)
so you think the subscriber to this mag represent a true cross of a very diverse, military that include muslims, pagan, minorities, democrats, ect.
The findings are part of the sixth annual Military Times survey of subscribers to Army Times, Air Force Times, Navy Times and Marine Corps Times newspapers. This year’s survey, conducted Dec. 1 through Dec. 8, included more than 1,900 active-duty respondents.
"The government is a child that has found their parents credit card, and spends knowing that they never have to reconcile the bill with their own money"-Shannon Churchill
I didn't say subscriber i said military as a whole which ya'll are takin this poll to represent.
for people constantly disavowing polls ya'll sure are into this one as well....
I was in carter's military too after volunteering while Ford was president. I was not big on serving under Carter as many of the respondants in this survey. What did I do? Served, turned down a 15,000 SRB and got out!
In retrospect, one could easily compare the prospective adminstration of Obama and carter's. Situational circumstances are similar. The biggest difference being of course that Carter did not inherit a war...... thank God! He couldn't even handle a hostage situation in .... funny.... it was Iran if I remember correctly, so serving under him was tough, knowing that he would probably compromise the security of America, unknowingly of course, I always believed JC meant well, as I think Obama does, I just think their positions are weak.
A young man in the military is taught the ways of being a soldier, sailor etc,... In doing so there must be a certain expectation that they are being led by strength. I remember very well my own questions in my mind while serving as to whether our president would make the right decisions in certain circumstances. I also remember quite well the instances when we were routinely intimidated by Russians, both in relations and militarily. There were many many close calls at sea that people today do not realize.
Obama would be a nightmare to serve under to me.
If you continue to think the way you have always thought, you will continue to get what you have always got!
A government big enough to provide you everything you need is big enough to take everything you have!
polls or not, it is entirely logical for someone who has decided to make the military a career to be suspicious of a candidate who ran on the promise to cut military spending......
...full immersion.....
