Stephanie, I was there with my parents and some friends. It was easily a million+. The crowd completely filled Penn Ave from the capitol to the monument and spilled out to all the side blocks. Highways were shut down due to bus loads of people streaming in. It was AMAZING! People from all walks of life, political persuasions, and from every state. For the first time in a long time I feel hopeful for our republic.

thanks for sharing that Bonnie..I am with you on feeling some hope, and the march yesterday was a good start.. but we have to keep up and demand BOTH parties get in line with us..we are their boss, not the other way around..

I didn't see too many media outlets but in fairness there were too many people there to make that call. We were somewhere in the middle of the crowd (multitude). I can tell you there were about 30 pro Obama activists in total. I saw so many clever signs that people made up. One lady wore a black cloak carrying a sign that read "Journalism Died In 2008" another one said "Joe Wilson next time throw A shoe". Nearly everyone there had anti Socialism, anti Marxism signs. This was the beginning of a revolution to save the republic from big government, all other spin is bullshit. We met true liberals who were terrified of the loss of free speech and government intrusion into their lives. Trust me when I tell you this was a totally non partisan protest. I think the flag that summed up the event was "Don't Tread On Me" which is the one I carried since it says exactly what I wanted to say. What a feeling of unity and happiness that we all came together in unity to take a stand. I can't wait for the next one!

So far today, the liberal media and talking heads are doing their best to dwnplay and smear those who turned out

Yes, they were racists. They were mean. They were making "noise"

Yet, these were the same people who said during the 8 years of Bush - dissent was cool and patriotic

They are terrified. Do you know after all those people there wasn't even any garbage left anywhere? Everyone was civil, nice, and happy but very resolute. The best sign there I thought read "2010 YOUR ALL FIRED"

PS I love your quote. Scary that it's so true!

I saw that. Unlike the many tones of trash left behind by the left wing gloabl warming Earth loving libs on Jan 20, 2009

And there was not a bunch of private jets flying into the DC airports like there was in Jan - less Co2 emmisions being pumped into the atmosphere

And if you have no respect for Muslims, then why did you not answer my question about other Muslims who have been elected to office? What about Keith Ellison in congress? What about Larry Shaw? What about Saghir Tahir? All elected officials and all Muslims.

You condemn the protests as gutter in form and yet you are ignorant enough to proclaim your hatred for every single Muslim in the world for the deeds of a few. Doesn't add up to me, only screams of ignorance and someone who can't admit to the facts.

So what about his speech? Was it nothing more than a pack of lies that he spoke of? If you say you respect him as elected president, how do you again reconcile the respect with your own beliefs on the subject?

I completely understand that I won't be changing your mind. It always saddens me when someone refuses to be open about a debate and have their minds already made up based on hearsay, opinion columns & fear. Your hatred/contempt for Muslims and the Quran just doesn't add up. If it were aimed towards terrorists, radicals and those wishing to take a violent position, I could understand. But you seem hell bent on accusing millions of being bad people that have done nothing to deserve that tag.
