    Default No longer unemployed =D

T'has been many long weeks but atlast i've got a job,

Went for a interview a last Tuesday to be a resercher on goverment policy, they said they'd phone back on Tuesaday night, when they hadn't called by Thursday i called them and had to leave my name an number as the women who did the interviews was away, as they hadn't called by Monday i phoned again, the women said i didn't get the job and so they didn't phone, at which point i told them that it was quite rude that she hadn't called to say i didn't get the job IMO,

Anyways she just phoned me back now, one of the people they did select hasn't turned up for the first day of training, and that they'd be happy for me to take the spot, i start tomorrow =)

Moral of the story; Keep phoning the buggers so they don't forget your name

    Cheers,

Basicly i'm given a list of phone numbers which i have to call, and if the person who picks up agrees to it then i spend 5-10 mins asking them what areas of goverment policy are they happy with in their area, what they feel needs more investment in ect, and taking opinion polls on certain issues, this data will then be collected and given to goverment think-tanks to start drafting policy for our next general election, which is about 7-8 months away,

    Good luck with new job!
I love those kind of calls. I make the person sit and listen to my political views. I never answer with just a simple yes or no.
"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

Congrats, Noir! Glad you found something, but just like here I wish it was your private sector growing, not public. Still I'm very happy for you!

Indeedy, its a private phone company that have been hired by the Gov for reserch, so i guess i'm getting paid by the company, but they're getting money from the Gov, so its kinda public and private i guess.

    and cheers all

So guess who's unemployed again =D

Kind of annoyed as i did like the job, but such is life,

Well, i full on slept in for work, like i woke up today at 6pm and i was meant to start work at 4pm xD
So i phoned them and my manager was super pissed, which i didn't take well atall. Cus i went well out of my way to get too the job, i had to dander down to the bus station (about 30min away) and get 2 connecting buses, and like if i missed the bus for work i'd get a taxi which would cost me £25 and i only make £22 in a normal 3 hour shift and one of the times i got a taxi i had no other money on me, so i couldn't even get a bus back, i had to walk, which meant leaving work at 8pm and i wasn't back in my flat until 3am =/ but i didn't really mind cus i had a job so it didn't matter if some days i lost money on it or whatnot,

So anyways i know i've done all that to make sure i get to work on time and stuff, and i slept in for one day, and she got pissy on the phone so i told her that it wasn't working out and that i would not longer be in, so she was like fine and hung up =/

How long you had the position? I've been at mine for 12 years now. Been late 3 times. Been 'sick' 6 days. Total personal days, 15 (5 when my dad died, 2 when my mom did. 1 when my sister was buried.) Oh yeah, 1 when Bush was in town.

Noir, not a good idea to be late for work in the first 5 years, at least in these parts.

I knows, its really not like me atall, in my last job (which i had for 3 years) i only had one day off (and that was planned as i had root canal surgery that day)
The only reason i ended up sleeping in was cus i was up all night with a friend who's having a hard time, and what with timezone difference it meant i didn;t get ta sleep till 10am, and to make it into work i have to leave my flat at about 12 noon (to get to work at 4, to work til 8, and then get back home about 11) So really it wasn;t worth it at all, but still i liked to have it as something to do and to make me atleast some money.

But the manager went waaaay overboard, like i dunno maybe she's had a bad day, but i'd say it was uncalled for,
