Default The lies of padded bras, magazine covers and TV

Just a random thought here as to how far we now go in Society to make things appear to be that what they are not. Here's a list of some of my pet-peaves:

    1. Padded Bra's - FALSE ADVERTISING
    2. Magazine Pics of "perfect-looking" people
http://www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=54 - thanks dmp for link
    3. TV / Movies: Seriously.... how often do "love scenes" happen in real life?

How did we get to the point where we're all part of the problem? The reason these issues exist is because we ALL buy into them! Take away the demand, and these issues will subside due to the free-market we have in America and most of Western Europe...

I have a feeling it's largely due to our unquenchable thirst for fantasy as a form of escapism. We as a culture have cultivated these issues to a point where they're somehow "normal" now and to be accepted without question.

Anywho... / gets off soap box now..

What are some of our pet-peaves in society?

I would like to vouch for padded bras. If it weren't for this invention, I wouldn't be able to wear the cute strapless sundresses I just bought. And I am not advertising. I am already 'sold', so to speak.

However, my pet peeves are childless people and/or couples who tell ME how to raise my kids or discipline them, and then proceed to tell me how perfect and planned they will be when they have kids...blah blah blah...

I remember a time when movie/tv-type love scenes happened a few times a week.

“… the greatest detractor from high performance is fear: fear that you are not prepared, fear that you are in over your head, fear that you are not worthy, and ultimately, fear of failure. If you can eliminate that fear—not through arrogance or just wishing difficulties away, but through hard work and preparation—you will put yourself in an incredibly powerful position to take on the challenges you face" - Pete Carroll.

I've often wished for a soundtrack to dramatize various times in my life.

But to the original point, it's getting really hard to tell what's real and what isn't anymore.

    One pet peeve.

When my sons hold the door for people and they don't say thank you. My oldest has even noticed and occationally will say your welcome, then the person says thanks. Better late than never I guess.

Worse. People who bump in to you rather hard, or hit something you're carrying, and just keep right on going without so much as a glance back..

"You're excused!" pops out rather loudly.

I have taken a line that Chevy Chase has used in numerous films......"Excuse you"..but he says it with the same tone and inflection as excuse me....most people don't even notice but I chuckle to myself.

I hate it when I stop my truck to let a pedestrian cross in front of me and not only do they not acknowedge that I did something for them, they arrogantly don't even look at you, as if to say...You better stop for me!
No matter where I've traveled or how great the trip was, it's always wonderful to return to my country, The United States of America......... me

Probably because no matter what, pedestrians have the right of way in any given situation. If you hit one, whether they're walking down the middle of the freeway, or crossing the street, it's you, the driver, that's going to get nailed.
