Yeps, this is the start of it, on a small scale the cloud already exists, but it will still be a few years until every device, Radio/TV/Phones/DeskTops/LapTops ect are connected, but those in the know believe it will be within the next 5000 days...

why don't they just say decade? i know that is just a bit more than a decade but seriously.

anyways, this really doesn't surprise me. was just a matter of time, heck we could do it now it they lined up the tech just right. It would be really nice for Medical care. So many patients don't know their own history.

Government control is gonna love that this.. especially with the 'control over the internet' that this admin pushed forward. only in emergencies of course.

You do realize that we are talking about almost 14 years don'tcha?

I remeber when the WWW was just starting to become available for common people. It has taken a while to reach the point we are now, but I do believe it will continue to expand at an unheard of rate in the coming years. I really don't think it will take the 5000 days but a lot less...

Of course this is all dependent on wheter we are all still here after 2012

nobody said that the cloud would include America. Stop assuming.

also, that's why i will probably keep that CJ6 carb'd instead of fuel injected.

One of the big issues is (and will be for a while) is bandwidth, particulalry for "disadvantaged users" (think dial-up/radio frequency networks). Lots of experimentation on data compression/throttling techniques but in the end thee laws of physics still hold true.

ANd what if you don't Want to be part of this brave new web.

(don't spiders eat whats caught in the WEB - NET is better, umm well fish are eaten that are caught in the net. what gives with these names?)

The guy just assumes that "everyone" will be a part of this thing. like breathing air.

As monkeybone mentioned gov'ts will love this. Corporations too.

Will people who live outside the "one" be criminals for not wanting to "pay the price" of having your hair replacement purchases out there for the ladies to giggle at. Of not having your bank account balance out there for everyone to see. Your age, weight, address, kids ages and pics, phone numbers etc.. just available to everyone? It seems younger folks are being raised to just deal with people seeing and hearing all their biz at anytime but something very real is being lost don't you think. An without any real public discussions. it's just assumed that well all go along with it.

the U.S. 4th amendment of not search-ing home or papers without a probably cause and warrant goes strait out the window.

But that's the "price", Another human right down the toilet for the sake of what, convenience?

    for what it's worth I'm A-gin it.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

If you don't want to be part of it then i suggest you go amish lol,

Whether you like it or not the Web as it is holds allot of records about you, someone with the permissions on Google/Apple/Microsoft/AT&T ect can see what sites you view, when, who you email, what is in the emails, who you phone, what pictures you have taken, and when and where you are at any moment within a few metres.

Are you happy they can do this? Probably not, but you will accept it as a price you're willing to pay for the convenience of the net as it is,

Why should we. Slavery was an accepted practice but it stopped. why is the idea of corporations tracking our every move just something we have to accept? Isn't there something morally wrong about that? Aren't we brilliant enough to create the convenience without the "price". Can we even discuss it?

I have a dream I have a Dream That some day like grown white men and grown black women can walk with a cell phone and no one knows where they are. I have Dream that one day that you can write an e-mail in your office and no one will be able to read it with out your permission. I have a dream that the corparations and gov't will do the will of the people and be tranparent to the people and not the other way around. I have seen the promise land. I might not get there with you but...

Why not start turning the ship in that direction rather than just letting it go over the supposed inevitable waterfall that we seem to be headed toward. the tech is still fairly new and the future of what it does is still up to us unless somehow what that guy is talking about is somehow preordained.

I have been looking into the amish thing to, as a backup. Freedom 1.0.

Moving on to applications of the One,

Augemented reality, enabled by data to data conectivity,

An example of which is Photosynth, currently in development under Microsoft

    TruFax,

I have also seen demos where you are able to walk around in the PhotoSynth world in real time if someone has a 4G enabled video phone, allowing you to see a real time video imposed on your street view map, i'll try and dig the video up

Edit, found, it starts about 4 mins in
