Sorry Red, this is just another self referential "fact" created from whole cloth by the RWN blogosphere, radio shows and television network. It sprang from Matt Drudge's fevered mind as he ignored the simple fact that the story from India stated the cost, not in dollars, but Indian Rupees. Nor is 10% of the US Navy, let alone nearly 50% of the Pacific Fleet going to escort the President to India.

And you along with the rest of your factually challenged, willfully ignorant fellow travelers, fall for it every time.

White House debunks "wildly inflated" $200M-per-day price tag for Obama's India trip

But, hey Red...You found it on the internet, so it must be true!

I found it on the internet, so it MUST be real!
Hey Bully, you found THIS at Media Matters, so you wish to call it definitive?

When Media Matters asked about the report, White House spokesman Matt Lehrich responded, "The numbers reported in this article have no basis in reality. Due to security concerns, we are unable to outline details associated with security procedures and costs, but it's safe to say these numbers are wildly inflated."
Of course the White House non-answer beats all else, especially with the greased title. LOL!

Oh yeah! Maybe it's only $150 million or $199.99 million a day? 2,900 people?

NOT the most transparent administration ever.

What they trying to get the people to swallow, that bin Laden finds that the administration spends $199.9 million for Obama to have a post-election respite and so they'll decide to go after him? Trust me, al Queda doesn't care what we spend.

    Thumbs up

When you stop to think about what we do know:

3,000 people who are on the government payroll

    40 jet aircraft

about 40 automobiles including 2 Presidential limos

    34 warships and aircraft carriers

the 500 plus rooms at the hotel

$200 milion per day figure does not seem so far fetched

I'm doing a little stream of consciousness here....

So we all accept stories without question from the Indian Press.

    hmmm,

    That's good to know.

    ------

I don't know how much of the story is true or not. But if that was the worse thing he did I wouldn't have a problem with the guy but Billions have been spent bailing out the crooked banksters, the Health care crap, and the poor actions in the gulf covering for BP, while people loss thier health and livelihoods (those BP crook threads don't even go a full page, but 3 pages on this topic already, go figger).

    -----------------------

But India's got a lot of American jobs over there so it makes sense that he go put a face on a few of the people we talk to on the phone everyday in the states.

    ----------------------

    $400 haircut.

No...I don't think we are accepting stories without question from the India press... I just thought it was interesting to see what the people of India were being told. Wonder if they believe it, and if they do, what they must think. What would Americans think if the Russian president came for a visit and brought warships?

and you STILL can't produce anything from the adminitartion on the cost of this trip

Perhaps because they are talking about it because of the cost to the US taxpayer?

But libs like you BP will still refuse to ask any questions. So what is unemployment is still near 10%, with record foreclosures and bankruptices - your goal in life is to attack and deny any criticism of the administration and play your role of defense lawyer

Obama can tell us to cut back, not to travel, not to vacation in Las Vegas, but he can live the good life while we are picking up the tab.

As far as the ships go...

Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell did not shy away from dismissing reports that appeared in Indian media outlets, such as the Press Trust of India and the television network NDTV. The Press Trust of India is that country’s largest news agency…

“I will take the liberty this time of dismissing as absolutely absurd this notion that somehow we were deploying 10 percent of the Navy — some 34 ships and an aircraft carrier — in support of the president’s trip to Asia,” said Morrell at today’s Pentagon briefing. “That’s just comical. Nothing close to that is being done.”…

Look for most U.S. media --- including reporters on the trip --- not to focus on figures, equipment, hotel accommodations, menus and costs of the trip, which also takes the president and entourage to Indonesia, South Korea and Japan.

The journey comes three days after voters on Tuesday indicated federal spending should be cut.

Aside from the equivalent of two Air Force squadrons involved, the military-like "invasion" in India includes:

    • Six armored vehicles.

    • Three Marine One helicopters.

    • Forty five vehicles, including a Lincoln Continental for Obama and family.

    • Thirty four U.S. Navy ships, including an aircraft carrier, patrolling off Mumbai.

    • About 3,000 people --- or, in military terms, equal to three battalions --- including Secret Service agents (30 to 40 already are on the scene), U.S. government officials, journalists and…

    • The president’s chef.

The entire luxury five-star, 560-room, 44-suite seaside Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, along with its restaurants, is booked to accommodate some of the three battalions.

About 305 additional rooms are booked at three other hotels, including the Grand Hyatt.
