Agreed, so long as the industry would be kept in check via proper medical visits and proper establishments. I never saw the big deal with the oldest profession personally.

Like pornography, I doubt any society can get rid of it completely --- look at Islamic nations, and even they can't do it. For both, I'd keep them CONFINED... I would keep streetwalking as a crime. Prostitution does create a public health threat through STD's, so I think some enforcement is OK. I wouldn't pour tons of law enforcement resources into it, though.

Yup, it should be legal for a person to do what they want with their body.


We sell our 'body' everyday now.
You can make a living from it with physical labor, lifting stuff and such, why not otherwise?

Seriously though, legalize it. In NYC for example, create a few legit 'parlors' like in Nevada. Clean up the industry, get rid of streetwalkers. Hell, I'm sure they can figure a way to create income for the city out of it.

And it would be MUCH easier to enact safeguards pertaining to STDs if it were legal.

Here's how it works. You make them get tested regularly. If they can't pass the test, they lose their license to become a prostitute. Then you know that the only people doing it illegally under the new law definitely have an STD and you stay away from them.

I think clients should be tested as well and thus lose their right to purchase.
