Merry pumping: Falling gas prices turning filling stations into dispensaries of good cheer

By Patrick May

Christmas came a week early for Mike Carlton when he pulled up Sunday morning to a pump at the 76 gas station on Fremont Boulevard.

Another week, another nice drop in gas prices.

Ho, ho, holy unleaded!

"I've got a three-quarter ton GMC truck that a few months ago cost me over $100 to fill up,'' said Carlton, an auto-body repairman. "These prices are like an early Christmas gift.''

A couple weeks ago I was excited to get a gallon at $3.79, yesterday bought at $3.29!
