Do you know anyone that makes a living from selling there?

I don't but always hear that people do.

My wife tried selling her jewelry on there. She sold a few pieces but not enough to live on.

We have a regular at the store who makes his living selling golf clubs on EBay. Now, he was independently wealthy beforehand, so I don't know the exact figures on what he makes on there, but what he does is just orders a bunch of clubs, arranges them into a set, sells the whole set on EBay, and makes what he says is a pretty big profit.
