Default It’s official: Chicago is nation’s corruption capital

BY KIM JANSSEN AND FRAN SPIELMAN Staff Reporters February 15, 2012 10:54AM

A University of Illinois study has found what many probably already suspected: Chicago is the corruption capital of the nation.
The study — published Wednesday as the details of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s Colorado prison assignment emerged — showed that the federal court district that includes Chicago has had 1,531 public corruption convictions since 1976, more than any other district in the nation.

Some surprise. All one has to do is look at the current President to figure THIS out.

Chicago is like a completely different state than where most of the state lives. I learned the reason for this particular state's northern border and its shape was a direct political ploy to get the Chicago waterway to Lake Michigan back in the day when shipping the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers was big business.

BTW ... in Indian, :CHicago" means "stinky weed". Go figure THAT one.

As corrupt as it is I guess the MOST corrupt would be a place where there weren't as many convictions. But where the corrupt officials got away with it most of the time and the media painted the boss hogs as heroes and victims for the faithful, Where the officials always justified by a "reasonable" excuse as to why they took the money or it looked like they helped their cronies or put an innocent people outta biz or in jail or had that group spied on and killed "for the good of the country", Or why that Madam committed "suicide". Washington DC anyone?

Hmmm ... isn't "Illinois" the Indian word for "land of women with no teeth" ... or is that Arkansas? I know Oklahoma is the Indian word for "nobody wants to live there".

LOL. The Illinois were a tribe of Indians. Most of the women around here have teeth. Not sure they can claim them as original equipment though.

Define corruption. My wife works at a school and they do raffles to raise money for the PTA only the cant call it a raffle, it's an opportunity drawing-- cause I guess raffles are illegal??? So gov Robinaconvict should of called it a senatorial opportunity drawing.

LOl, when I worked on the HS after-prom committee, I was told we couldn't have a raffle or a 50/50 drawing, because it is considered gambling. Guess what the after-prom theme was? Las Vegas, complete with card games and a roulette wheel.

Yeah, but where do you live? Best I can tell, Illinois is a completely separate country from "Stinky Weed". I don't know that I'd call a school raffle "corruption". We have a deal hear where "x" number of dollars we spend at the local grocery store go to the school. I have no problem with it. One, unlike anything else Chicago dishes out and the Obama administration has usurped as a process, it's voluntary. Two, they don't tell our kids what they can eat for lunch according to Michelle Obama and her caboose..

Corruption? Chicago? I blame winter. That and being far enough north that the air is thinner.

I always thought Chicago was Indian for"What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine, if you value your knee caps and your nuts". How much did Obama pay for his Senate Seat, again? Where is Jimmy Hoffa Buried? The mysteries of life.

We be the state where our former governors make our license plates. What other state can say that?

That would never have happened in NY. No matter how much he implicated others.

Our Former Governors get Radio Shows.

It's actually a pretty good show.
