They could never do better by doing a remakes of--

The Bridge of the River Kwai

    High Noon

    Ride the High Country

    Wild Bunch

    and

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia

Impossible to improve those movies or have better actors doing the roles!!!!!

All great movies but Ride the High Country and The Bridge on the River Kwai both just slay me....
Warren Oates in Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia was fantastic, his best role Imho.--Tyr

    ditto

haven't seen the others I'll take your word for it though.

    a couple more

Rocky the 1st movie still hods up to me. and it'd just be goofy to remake it.

    I 2nd no Hitchcock films.

Frtiz lang's film M comes to mind too.

Double indemnity with Stanwick and Fred McMurphy

    Unforgiven
It is proper to take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties. The freeman of America did not wait till usurped power had strengthened itself by exercise, and entangled the question in precedents. James Madison

Heck, I have been leaving this alone, but here are a few to be considered

African Queen --stars Humphrey Bogart and I believe Hepburn.
The Harrison Ford films about the archeologist, Raiders of the lost Ark etc.
though on DVD, Band of Brothers has been a wonderful addition to my DVD collection.

I have many more though. Later perhaps.

Another good one, Slingblade with Billy Bob Thorton.

And Spartacus with Kirk Douglas. neither can be improved upon.

Was there ever a remake of 'Omega Man' ? A brilliant film, starring Charlton Heston.

The Martian Chronicles (TV film, in episodes ?) ... strangely, I was never sure how much I liked it. But very watchable.

Just also thought of 'Wall Street' ... another excellent one. Though I suspect it had a sequel ?
