Default Exercise equipment to work your abs

I have a question about workout equipment to tone your abs. I can't use anything that is hard on your back, and I have scarring from surgery that I also have to be mindful of...which means no crunches or sit ups. I was looking online and found these options.

I actually have tried an Ab Lounge before...and sometimes it does give me vertigo (I am prone to migraines). Just have not used one long enough to know if it was effective.

Has anyone tried one of these?

About the easiest thing for me to do regarding my abs is the "plank" which doesn't need any equipment. The plank works everything. I just try to add more time each day to make it longer and longer.

How long did it take you to get strong enough to do enough reps to be effective?

LOL!!! I'm still working on it being effective. I had to first work up the strength in my arms and legs to maintain the proper form. When I first started I couldn't even do 30 secs once. I only do two reps ... and my goal is to work for length on both reps, rather than increasing the # of reps. It works the entire core, so it's working on building muscle to help the back be stronger, as well as the abs.
