I just started using it. I could never find shit because the windows search was so damn slow, I'd forget what I was looking for waitning for a result. I don't see any drawbacks so far.
Maybe Jimmy should install it on this site to make searching easier.

Google Desktop rocks! Like a mini search engine which just searches your own machine. I use mine all the time.

You guys would love spotlight then..... unfortunately it only comes with OS10 and like everything else on my MAC it works perfectly every time.
No matter where I've traveled or how great the trip was, it's always wonderful to return to my country, The United States of America......... me

When I was forced to go PC one of the many things that I missed was a good search engine. The Mac "Finder" was great- it could find anything.You guys would love spotlight then..... unfortunately it only comes with OS10 and like everything else on my MAC it works perfectly every time.
Google desktop still only looks at certain files though. It completely ignores .dwg files.
