I was about to say to let me know what you think of it, as I'm planning on installing a flavor of Linux on a secondary HDD, but then saw it's on your Nexus. Not sure the install will be very comparable! At any rate, should you not like it, is it easy enough to reverse course and go back to Android? (It is Android, no?)

How do you know if a device is jelly bean, ice cream sandwich or whatever? Is there a guide somewhere? My new Sony phone has android 4.0.4 on it, but if I click on update it tells me I have the latest version.

The wireless STAYS unmanaged and won't connect. Windows/menus are slow to respond as if the device doesn't have enough resources to work well. I'm NOT impressed.

Only from another Ubuntu machine. I had to use lots of command line linux commands. It was not a trivial task. Now my experimental Windows 8 machine has the boot record mangled and only boots to linux.

When I had Ubuntu on the Nexus 7, at a 53% charge, Ubuntu warned me that I only had 18 minutes of battery left.

You would think they would have a way to set back to manufacturers default, but I guess what you did wiped everything. How much was the Nexus? Aren't they a little pricey for messing with them that way?

The 32GB model was $249 at Sam's Club. I have been messing with devices for years. I have modded Xboxes, Wiis, Motorola phones, and now tablets. Once you have the device modding itch, it doesn't go away.

Yeah, I could imagine, I haven't used terminal in eons and hate using command lines! I've grown a little fond of GUI interfaces over the years!

That's pretty adventurous. Ubuntu for Nexus 7 is still in beta. I think I'll wait till I get another tablet before experimenting.
