Default A movie requiring multiple viewings

To REALLY understand this film which looking back is considered ahead of its time because it symbolizes what Brazil has become after the military dictatorship. Macunaíma is referred to as the "hero with no character". In other words "free" but totally bereft of any sense of right and wrong.

Our story begins with Macunaima's miraculous birth to an old woman in a tiny jungle settlement. Born full grown, he discovers his life's purpose which leads him and his family/followers on a journey to the Big City. On the way, more miracles occur, but Macunaima still has the heart and mind of a child. In the Big City, he is co-opted by terrorists who enlist him in their revolutionary schemes. In the Big City he learns that nuts are not always food and other hilarious lessons of life. Written by Anonymous
Macunaíma is a lazy anti-hero born black in Amazonas. After the death of his mother, he moves with his two brothers to Rio de Janeiro, but along his journey, he baths in a fountain and becomes Caucasian. Once in Rio, he incidentally meets the killer guerrilla woman Ci, who wears an amulet made of stone, and they fall in love for each other. They live together and a couple of months later, Ci delivers a black baby. While carrying a bomb for a terrorist attack in the stroller, the bomb explodes and Ci and the baby die, and the amulet vanishes. A very strong man finds the stone and Macunaíma tries to recover it. In the end, he returns to the jungle.
The reference to cannibalism is even more explicit in the lurid swimming pool scene which follows. Pietro Pietra’s daughter is about to be married. A feijoada, the Brazilian national dish made of beans and pork ends, is prepared for the celebration. No ordinary feijoada, this one floats nauseatingly in an Olympic-sized pool full of piranhas. Guests are shoved in by force and resurface later on as tasty tidbits for the others.

No more gross than what Brazilian society has become. It is in practice a lawless place. If a movie grosses you out, consider some reality of being a fan of the "wrong" soccer team. Don't worry about the language of the audio, the video tells most of the story.

Only needed to see the beginning.
This could be happening anywhere in the world, right now.
And sadly. Some would applaud what is shown, while others would demand retribution.

This is what Lawlessness, and Anarchy look like.

Anyone think it can't happen here in the U.S.A.?

What's the difference between kicking a person laying in the street in Rio, and Shooting a person in the street in Chicago???
