Nation’s Biggest Outdoor Show Postponed Indefinitely Due to Anti Gun Nuts

Thanks to the anti gun nuts there are fewer people with jobs, lost revenue for the vendors (which may lead to job losses) and millions in lost revenue to the state of PA.

NORWALK, Conn., Jan. 24, 2013 -- /PRNewswire/ -- Reed Exhibitions today announced it has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding the company's decision to limit the sale or display of assault rifles at the event. The show was scheduled to take place February 2-10 in Harrisburg, PA."Our original decision not to include certain products in the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show this year was made in order to preserve the event's historical focus on the hunting and fishing traditions enjoyed by American families," said Chet Burchett, Reed Exhibitions President for the Americas. "In the current climate, we felt that the presence of MSRs would distract from the theme of hunting and fishing, disrupting the broader experience of our guests. This was intended simply as a product decision, of the type event organizers need to make every day.
"It has become very clear to us after speaking with our customers that the event could not be held because the atmosphere of this year's show would not be conducive to an event that is designed to provide family enjoyment. It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing.

Actually, Red, they postponed it because of the NRA promoting a boycott against them for not allowing certain guns. Because of the boycott, they had to cancel.

It wasn't gun owners who made the decision but rather the organizers. A gun like an AR15 is very comparable to many hunting rifles, and many people use them as such. This is organizers falling prey to the media and not displaying weapons that are on the bottom rung of "killers" that people are so afraid of. They messed with the people who planned on selling at the event - the people who MAKE the event. They made a mistake and all of the people pulled out.

If that were true, this show would have went on. The gun owners have spoken with things like this, and emptying out gun stores of all their "assault rifles" and ammunition over the last 4-6 months. They would still be on the shelves if people were turning against them.

And "brisk tempo"? Please, no need for exaggeration. Less than 3% of ALL gun shootings, malls/schools & over the entire nation during the course of last year - made up for less than 3% of all the deaths. Yes, ALL gun shootings need to be stopped, but the right way.

Flawed and targeted polling is what you can make out of it. This is why I hate almost all polls. Asking 1000 people to speak for 350 million is going to give us bad results, often. Another poll was posted here today with quite the opposite results.

I can count on less than 2 hands these so called rampage shootings made in high capacity areas, and that's 14 years since Columbine. Yes, it sucks, and they should ALL be prevented, but AR15 shootings, or mass shootings with ANY rifle, is hardly like a crack epidemic. They are few and far between, in reality.
