You know how in real life an adult would not walk into a conversation about one person's kid's baseball team and jump in and force the change into a top of how football is superior? Because adults are their own boss, and adults know when and where to get on their soapbox? I suggest using that same courtesy here.
as an example: if you made a light hearted post about changing the subject, then I jumped in bitching about your grammar or political background. I would be out of line. Would be rude of me.

I actually struggle with that in real life and is why I don't socialize much. I have walked away from many a conversation because I couldn't find an "on ramp". Sometimes I even forego saying "hi" to someone I haven't seen in a long time.
