Default Funny they are not trying to ban certain cars, isn't it?

Look at these deaths that I copied from the news today.

Yet they are not demanding in DC we ban certain autos.

    Wonder why eh?

An estimated 36,200 people died in motor vehicle accidents in 2012, the National Safety Council said Tuesday. That's up from 34,600 deaths the previous year. It's the first increase since 2004 to 2005.

Yet as huge a killer as cars are, they still are not banned. Point taken by the way.

There is a big difference between accidents involving cars, and purposely pointing a gun at someone and pulling the trigger. Cars are not generally used as a weapon with the intent on killing someone. The same can't be said of guns.

What was that you said about pointing a gun at someone and pulling the trigger?

How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

Guns aren't generally used as a weapon with the intent to kill someone either. 270,000,000 guns in the US, 8583 murders by firearm in 2011.

254,000,000 cars in 2007 (US DOT), while deaths by Alcohol impaired drivers alone account for over 10000 of the total 32,367 total traffic fatalities in 2011.
Somehow its more acceptable if its by accident or negligence. Doesn't make sense to me when several of the greatest causes of death, heart disease, respitory disease, diabetes etc, would all be reduced if there were less cars been driven every day. But alas, people like their freedom to go about their business taking lives haphazardly; but merely owning a gun that shoots ten plus rounds is a significant enough threat to society to prohibit.

So now your changing you reason from the AMOUNT of Deaths to your idea of the PURPOSE of the tool.
which -in you mind- is to kill (implied aggressively) . Others say it's to defend and have fun, but somehow your definition is to be taken as the only one everyone should buy into.

It's great that you can change you motive for stealing guns from decent people from one to other when it suits you.

You don't even live here, why do you care, your safe, no guns near you.
Have a safe drive to work.

It's happened. What would you say if a guy went flying down the road and drove his car into a bus stop and killed 7 people? Should he have his license revoked? Should be be allowed to continue to drive?

Should other drivers be affected by his actions?

Now suppose these crazy drivers did this 50-300 times per year. Now do you think the rest of the country should have their cars taken away, or "lessened"? Should they be treated like the criminals?

Need I say more?” - Chris Rock

If we're going to be flooding the streets with clownish mini-cars we need a national 45 MPH maximum speed limit. Just ask Joan Claybrook who instituted penalizing states who didn't get 85% compliance with the 55 during the Carter years. Nixon may have given us 55, but it was Carter who enforced it with draconian measures.

I've seen an angry girlfriend try to run down her boyfriend before. the guy just barely jumped out of the way of the car.
She then decided to ram his parked new car instead, then she drove off.
    they should be banned,
angry girlfriends i mean, should be against the law.

How about we meet the gun grabbers half way? They want to ban assault weapons, what if we just ban assault?

The obvious conclusion to draw here, is that it's not the inanimate object that's at fault here (car, gun). It's the person using it, and what he is using it for.

It's an excellent point. We should ban pointing a gun (or car) at somebody and pulling the trigger (or stepping on the gas) immediately, NOT simpy owning the gun (or car) and carrying (or driving) it in a safe manner.

Why didn't we think of that before?
