Default First Documented Case of Child Cured of HIV

    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0303172640.htm

"The case of a two-year-old child in Mississippi diagnosed with HIV at birth and immediately put on antiretroviral therapy. At 18 months, the child ceased taking antiretrovirals and was lost to follow-up. When brought back into care at 23 months, despite being off treatment for five months, the child was found to have an undetectable viral load. A battery of subsequent highly sensitive tests confirmed the absence of HIV."

I remember the dire stats regarding AIDS in the early 80's, seemed like Black Plague revisited. Truth is, great strides have been made in keeping folks able to live a normal life, with many cocktails of drugs. Not so good in Africa, but most of the 'West.' This on the infant, just fantastic news. I do wonder though, if anything is being done with the mother, to keep it from happening again?
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
