Default N Korea threatens US with nuclear attack

This is kinda serious but don't let it deflect you from the more pressing concern of Iran and their non existent Nuke weapons program that supposedly threatens Israel and not the USA.

NK Actually has nukes, has tested them and has now threatened the US directly with a nuclear attack! Get your priorities straight!

North Korea has vowed to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the US, hours ahead of a UN vote on whether to level new sanctions against Pyongyang for its recent nuclear test.
North Korea has accused the US of using military drills in South Korea as a launch pad for a nuclear war and hasscrapped the armistice with Washington that ended hostilities in the 1950-53 Korean War.

"Since the United States is about to ignite a nuclear war, we will be exercising our right to pre-emptive nuclear attack against the headquarters of the aggressor in order to protect our supreme interest," the North's foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency.

The North conducted a third nuclear test on February 12, in defiance of UN resolutions, and declared it had achieved progress in securing a functioning atomic arsenal.

Although North Korea boasts of nuclear bombs and pre-emptive strikes, it is not thought to have mastered the ability to produce a warhead small enough to put on a missile capable of reaching the US mainland.

It is believed to have enough nuclear fuel, however, for a handful of crude nuclear devices.

The North's unnamed foreign ministry spokesman also said it would be entitled to take military action as of March 11 when US-South Korea military drills move into a full-scale phase as it had declared the truce invalid.
It is the latest in an escalation of tough words from both sides of the armed Korean border this week as the UN Security Council deliberates a resolution to tighten financial sanctions and a naval blockade against the North.
    US double standards

North Korea, which held a mass military rally in Pyongyang on Thursday in support of its recent threats, has protested against the UN censures of its rocket launches.

It says they are part of a peaceful space programme and that the criticism is an exercise of double standards by the US.
In 2010, the North bombed a South Korea's Yeonpyeong Island killing two civilians. It is widely accused of sinking a South Korean navy ship earlier in the year, killing 46 sailors.
North Korea was conducting a series of military drills and getting ready for state-wide war practice of an unusual scale, South Korea's defence ministry said earlier on Thursday.
South Korea and the US, which are conducting annual military drills until the end of April, are watching the North's activities for signs they turn from an exercise to an actual attack, a South Korean official said.
"It hasn't been frequent that the North conducted military exercise at the state level," South Korea's defence ministry spokesman, Kim Min-seok, said.
"We are watching the North's activities and stepping up readiness under the assumption that these drills can lead to
    provocation at any time."

A top North Korean general said on Tuesday said Pyongyang was scrapping the armistice. But the two sides remain
technically at war as the civil war did not end with a treaty.

South Korea's military said in a rare warning on on Wednesday that it would strike back at the North and target its leadership if Pyongyang launched an attack.

Honestly, I would like to think that our government/military is capable of handling more than one issue simultaneously. I realize that there are those who believe Iran is not a threat to anyone; North Korea would have us believe they are not a threat either. Fortunately, some of our leaders are not that simple minded.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Yawn... One Seawolf or Los Angeles class 300 miles off the Korean Coast lets them know who really has the bigger stick.. no need to waste an Ohio class on them.

You seriously think that Kim Young Dum will actually attempt to nuke e USA? Are you serious?

    Hypothetical situation:

Kim Young Dum nukes an American City and there will be Millions dead.

CHINA tells America No Nukes allowed (Prevailing winds would blow the fallout over China and Russia) but we'll help with a conventional attack.

Russia, China and the USA go and Flatten everything north of the 38th Parralell all the way to the Yalu River.

North Korea ceases to exist and Korea is reunited.

No scenario has Kim Young Dum winning.

    be reasonable

If it were up to me, with a "legit" threat in hand, I would spend the next 6 months transporting various nukes around their area, and then level the entire country. Threat over. I doubt they can reach us anyway, but my way would make sure.

North Korea has been threatening to level the U.S. for years. Mostly idle threats from a madman. But we don't take them seriously because they aren't Muslims, and there is no political gain to be derived from taking them seriously.
Now, if North Korea threatened to level Israel with nukes...

Stupid reply, as usual. We don't take them seriously? How much do we spend yearly in the DMZ area of South Korea? How many troops do we have there? Don't bother, we know you don't know, and we know you won't educate yourself.

Jafaar has a point. I'd expect to be able to negotiate better with Iran than North Korea. The Iranian people seem rather reasonable to me.

First, no single nuke can wipe out even the smallest country.
Second, North Korea farts fairly dust.

We do have a missile shield. Let's keep that in mind.

There are sites on the WWW showing what nukes can do. N Korea can't possibly have h bombs.

A bombs are deadly in a small area but all N Korea would manage to do is have our sub fleet put the hurt on North Korea.

I am sorry Jafar, but neither country can do much to hurt this country. Only mad men would try to go against countries under the protection of the USA.

Who says they are trying to win? Sometimes mad men just want to cause chaos.
If we were as industrious to become good as to make ourselves great, we should become really great by being good, and the number of valuable men would be much increased; but it is a grand mistake to think of being great without goodness; and i pronounce it as certain that there was never yet a truly great man that was not at the same time truly virtuous." - Ben Franklin

You're right jafar we should be looking at Iran as well I mean after all they now have ICBM technology disguised as a "space program". some of us are able to put 2 and 2 together unlike others. If NK wants to attack the US they need the ICBM technology that Iran has and really with 1 nuke they can throw the US back 100 years technologicly.. So am I worried about NK having a nuke?? hell yes.. Am I more worried about Iran giving inormation to NK to use their nuke?? You damn sure betcha!!!!!!!

Iranian state TV did not provide further details on the document but said it will include setting up joint scientific and technological laboratories, exchange of scientific teams between the two countries and transfer of technology in the fields of information technology, energy, environment, agriculture and food.
Any technical accord between Pyongyang and Tehran is likely to raise suspicions in the West. The U.S. has repeatedly accused North Korea of providing Iran with advanced missiles capable of targeting Western European capitals.
Last year, Iran denied a U.N. panel report saying that North Korea and Iran appear to have been regularly exchanging ballistic missiles, components and technology in violation of U.N. sanctions.

The good thing is that there are inspectors in Iran and some sort of dialogue. We know pretty much what is going on in the country.

NK on the other hand has everyone in the dark and are ruled by a dynasty of certifiable nutcases.

    you are such a moron.

What good are inspectors if they are not allowed to inspect anything?

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/09/wo...cess.html?_r=0

After a brief spurt of optimism, impetus toward resolving the nuclear dispute with Iran slowed further on Friday as senior inspectors from the United Nations nuclear watchdog said they had made “no progress” toward gaining access to restricted sites they suspect of being used to test potential triggers for nuclear warheads.
