Are we giving in too much to these people, as much as i respect anyone's culture i am a firm believer in this respect being mutual, personally the Pageant holds no interest for me its the principle and where does it end

My answer to your question: a firm YES. This is definitely going too far.

I think we're in agreement. Respecting other cultures is fine, so long as there's some give and take in the process. I see no reason for feeling obligated to show respect, or deference, to those cultures determined to show none to mine !!!

Indonesia should have decided not to have associated themselves with this Pageant if those from that part of the world were intent upon pressurising the organisers into deferring to their particular cultural preferences. It's not for them to graft THEIR cultural preferences on the Pageant when the outcome must be that literally THE WORLD has to put up with it.

This is classic Muslim arrogance, in my view.
