To Be A Poet, Oft Strong Commands Come At Night

Oh, gawd- comes raging middle of the night
This horrid current, rise up and now write
An electric jolt, firing through me bones
Of new fortress looming, huge granite stones
And that tingle surging from old waking soul
As pagan's carving of a totem pole
Words spilling out from a resistant heart
Pen and paper screaming, hurry let's start!

Stumbling amidst and across dim-lit room
Word flowing from life or else dreaded doom
Splash, splash as ink and paper newly wed
Old verses, that a spirited mind said
Some few flavored with Shakespearean awe
Other's cuttings from old lumberjack's saw!

And I, vessel to set these ravings down
Of love, a princess in her golden gown
Dancing slowing across a ballroom floor
One never knows what else comes through that door!

In Prayer, Words Wrought By A Deeply Grieving Soul

I cry out, not from want but from sorrow
But from soul and sadness of tomorrow
This world's cuts, its avalanche of pains
    Its accumulations of wicked stains
Emergence of its many wicked beasts
Deep darkness, death within its horrid feasts.

I cry out, for that which has now been lost
Brevity of life, world's punishing costs
And those battles fought for peace and sweet life
    Amidst colossus of maddening strife
Dare we, live without happiness and joy
Exist on this earth as world's broken toys?

I cry out, indifference will not do
One must strive to gain what is overdue
Some measure of lasting peace and true sight
To overcome world's deep punishing blight
Is such the true path we should strive to take
Light that leads us to world's evil forsake?

I cry out, death your power shall not win
Nor fear induced by your wicked grin
Tho' sadness now holds with its iron grip
Hope, time's passage will make that vise-lock slip
Realization brings wisdom and more Light
Defeating shadows, fears sent dark of night!

I cry out, Fate holds a dear soul must leave
And in my deep sadness, I now so grieve
World- your black-illusions, I now reject
As Heart, on divine Light and Truth reflects
Now seeing again, always comes life's end
To its realm, Heaven its saved souls send.

I cry out, this heart and soul again sees
In so doing, issues revised pleas
Gift we left behind, thus our sorrows heal
Let your Light, death's finality repeal
Bless new soul, that has to Heaven now came
And note, his faith in your divine Son's name.

I cry out, belief in your Holy name
    Rejecting darkness, its accursed game
All wickedness this world sends mankind's way
And with this sincere prayer, I now say
Salvation can be had by One and All
By answering thy Son's life saving Call.

Allow Dawn To Warm And Give Its Sweet Kiss.

That this soul may find within sweeter dreams
Beauty and hope from sky's resplendent blue
Morning's glory in its soft warming beams
And that life can indeed gift blessings too
Whilst we endure this earthly span of time
Our hearts seek love and its gentle repose
Joyful pleasure is no hideous crime
I feel blessed, for lighted path I chose.

O' sorrow, flee back into that abyss.
Allow dawn to warm and give its sweet kiss.

That this broken heart can weep and then heal
Someday hold to faith and dear divine gift
Understand life will its splashing seas fill
With colors of sky blue that souls uplift
Shall eyes again flowering meadows see
Clearer mind fly beyond a blacken haze
Hear singing songbird in forested tree
Allow hope to rekindle its warming blaze!

O' sorrow, flee back into that abyss.
Allow dawn to warm and give its sweet kiss.

That mankind has from above a reprieve
Wherein acceptance of light so rewards
Shielding heart and soul from that which deceives
And brings forth a joy that life's pains discards
Whilst again one may dawn's bright glory feel
And walk with calm and a renewed soul
Banishing that darkness that came to steal,
Hopes and dreams, exacting dark's painful toll.

O' sorrow, flee back into that abyss.
Allow dawn to warm and give its sweet kiss.

Angelic Message Sent In Last Night's Loving Dream

From the emerald forest love sweetly callin'
From distant star wherein my angel hath fallen
Angelic music, and so very tender voice
Her words, " dearest darling you were my blessed choice"
Our love, was written by a heavenly decree
The was to be always forever, you and me
My darling, please wipe away those sad, falling tears
Our love cannot die, we will have eternal years!

I come to you my love, in this late midnight hour
That in your sorrows, I may help with love's power
Its joy, its memories of how deeply we love
You still earthbound and I loving so far above
I am always with you and our beloved son
Our true love, our bond, such can never be undone!

Dearest, I pray that you now cease and weep no more
I am in Heaven and its precious golden shores
My darling, I watch our son and you night and day
We see your great pain and hear your calls as you pray
Dear, allow time's flow to heal that deep stabbing cut
This world's ghastly darkness, that spout so firmly shut
Know love, now I guard you and our beloved son
Our golden tapestry will be forever spun!

I come to you my love, in this late midnight hour
That in your sorrows, I may help with love's power
Its joy, its memories of how deeply we love
You still earthbound and I loving so far above
I am always with you and our beloved son
Our true love, our bond, such can never be undone!

    Note: 3/08/2022
How could I not sit to write this blessed gift.
That my beloved sent to me last night?
A message born of love, sending hope and
the eternal promise of a future reunification.
One that was so clear, as if my beloved was
standing there before me, at the foot of my
    bed.
Such cannot be explained, except as a blessed
and most mercifully divine gift Heavenly sent.
I see light that has arrived today - to drive last
remnants of darkness and epic sorrows away.

    Note two:
I felt that my writing was at its end. That life
was to be ever increasing pain and sorrows
But now that dawn and divine blessings have been
gifted. Blindness born of sorrow has been banished
and this soul has been revived. Hope and joy are now
seeds reborn, sprouting buds as I compose… RJL

'Tis Life, But A Menagerie Of Our Own Vast Imaginations

Life is, but a menagerie of ghost-shadows fast-fleeing
The curtain pulled back to those seeking to true- seeing
Across a speck of dust in a vaster cosmos thus bestirring
All power of my former shield becoming a mere furring
An invasion has now obliterated life's sweet feelings
Do I to this immense darkness dare fight more, whilst kneeling?

Life is, but a menagerie of our own vast imaginations
So oft 'tis besotted by our own cavernous creations
Aided down meandering paths at this world's instigations
A confusing mystery for we that conduct deeper investigations
Alas! Youth exerts its delightful discoveries and invigorations
Whilst the golden treasures of Love creates magical installations!

Life is, but an invisible force bringing realms of hopeful dreams
Amidst the chaotic masquerades of mankind's darkest schemes
Joined by the accumulations of our hopes and our dearest love
Are we right to give credit to destiny or a greater power above
Live out our lives and pray well, we mortals can truly ever see
When our existence cries out, we are born to this darken realm flee?

Waking, Her Pretty Smile, Her Presence- Both Lives Uplifted

Of all the old broken roads left so very far behind
No, nothing, nothing rests easy on this wondering mind
O' yes, there were earthen angels that knelt to pray for me
Because truth is, I once was wild, so very wild and free
In my illusions, heart birthed its strong defensive shield
With that power, I was sworn, sworn to never ever yield
To love, its offerings and its very dangerous paths
That too oft hiding storm, waiting to unleash its great wraths.

Life and true dear love, together greatest treasure gifted.
Waking, her pretty smile, her presence- both lives uplifted.

Of all the old broken roads left so very far behind
Reasons to flee, yes, to yet another paradise find
Expand that cavernous seeking, that restless urge of youth
Looking back, I discover that was fallacy not truth
For life and passing of time brings forth a stark reality
Nothing is certain from birth to that coming *apogee
Does one rightly sail allowing winds to wherever blow
Or deny chance and plot a course to a better world go?

Life and true dear love, together greatest treasure gifted.
Waking, her pretty smile, her presence- both lives uplifted.

Of all those broken dreams, the resulting heartaches thus born
Those sad, pitiful nights praying for saving lights of morn
None are worse than the "what ifs" and the deep "I wish instead"
Or the epic heartbreak of sleeping alone in this bed
O' that one could retreat, see to follow another trail
One to gift time, deliver her wish from the wishing well
Our living out a long life in the paradise we found
Dearest hope, we so in love, to be eternally bound!

Life and true dear love, together greatest treasure gifted.
Waking, her pretty smile, her presence- both lives uplifted.

Of all those broken dreams, the resulting heartaches thus born
That promise of the eternal love we both had foresworn
Now surrounds this grieving soul, terrible darkness so deep
And soddened pillows from flowing tears each night I weep
Dare I this, to rise up and to give hope another chance
Retreating back into the depths of our youthful romance
If, if only such could send me to her new resting place
I would fly into that dream and to her sweet smiling face!

Life and true dear love, together greatest treasure gifted.
Waking, her pretty smile, her presence- both lives uplifted.

Hold Fast, Wake Not From Such Imaginative Dreams

I woke to exist within a splinter of Light
Leaving behind vanity and pleasures of night
An enigma, a soul fleeing from surging blight
Alone upon a racing sea of newborn sight.

Hold fast, wake not from such imaginative dreams.
Tarry thee longer, flee not to darkened world's schemes.

I saw, birth of frost adorning a brighten morn
Heaving joy and soft pain to have been thus reborn
Twas' I, a messenger from a world badly torn
Else blind beggar, worthy of only scathing scorn.

Hold fast, wake not from such imaginative dreams.
Tarry thee longer, flee not to darkened world's schemes.

I spoke, broad meadow issued bountiful reply
Flowers gasping loudly as I gave but mild sigh
Below virgin ground moaned, above wide sunny sky
Then alone, another dream, soul sought to deny.

Hold fast, wake not from such imaginative dreams.
Tarry thee longer, flee not to darkened world's schemes.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful, The Angel That Saved Me

Heartbreakingly beautiful, she that saved me
Although bound as I was so blindly being free
Unseeing that life was a trap, a prison cell
I so long in prison, I could no longer tell
Dawn woke and its light an angel to me gifted
To share life, love - in that a soul was uplifted.

Pray I, giving thanks for her love and her dear hand.
She that gave, so loved, taught me to truly stand.

Heartbreakingly beautiful, she that saved me
From Heaven a treasure, sent to teach me to see
When her touch, her soft kiss, this prisoner did wake
Man, world had deceived to take all he could take
Rose from that dark abyss and in her light did shine
For her solemn oath said, "love hath thus made you mine"!
Under bright new sun, we basked in life anew
Our love blossomed, in its true light we both grew
Before us a romantic paradise was soon cast
Under golden moonlight, our ship sailed full mast
There in our new home, in happiness we did dwell
Shielded from darkness and this world's revolving hell.

Pray I, giving thanks for her love and her dear hand.
She that gave, so loved, taught me to truly stand.

Ego qui nunc maximum thesaurum fictilem perdidi; dilectum meum uxorem.... ----
O' that such loss could not be true
In that we could live, love anew
You the angel, I the blessed
And our true love, we both confess...

Twas life and love that we shared
    Treasure, gems never compared
Happiness and joy came so swift
All was love cast to so uplift....

    Note:
This morn, write and reveal came unto me
Waking to again walk and see
Gasp at dawn's brighter, dancing glow
And our love's truth to again know.

Words Wrought Within Dark Depths Of Deepest Grief

The bitterness of a malady sent
Epic heartache of a soul torn and rent
When morn's rays disappear and all joy hides
Sea stands still, moon refuses to bring tides
Light tis invisible all is cold dark
Flowers have no petals, trees have no bark
Silence dances forth rears its ugly head
Lonely tosses its hat in our night-bed.

Cavernous black engulfs air one inhales.
Loss screams death's echoes as life's train derails.

When depths, sorrows of heart stir to invade
Life becomes just a pale, shallow parade
Romance has vanished into the mist
Aching pains into ones' mind spring to twist
All sings loud in a breaking soulful tune
Night brings only heart shattering black moon.

Cavernous black engulfs air one inhales.
Loss screams death's echoes as life's train derails.

Aye, Tis Light And Love That Again Sets To So Be

What wretched power seeks to extinguish true light
Still the poetic heart, ban into dark of night
Vanquish erupting of essence from human soul
Shall one pity for whom that sinister bell tolls
Aye, tis of dark and most wicked curse such so be
That innocence be cast into a blacken sea.

From what deep abyss does such calamity arise
Dares steals bright, glowing beauty from bluest sky
Tis that power a phantom from Hades thus born
A shadow, a slave cast to fruit only life scorn
Aye, tis of dark and most wicked curse such so be
That innocence be cast into a blacken sea.

Surely from below, a netherworld's waiting curse
Or minions of Hades, charged to seed even worse
Invisible monster that moon's beauty denies
Seeding into life, cold baskets of evil lies
Aye, tis of dark and most wicked curse such so be
That innocence be cast into a blacken sea.

Cannot truth destroy that war upon broken heart
And restore the love and hope within human heart
Yet again gift Nature's beauty and light of dawn
Reveal earth's wonders and sight of speckled fawn
Aye, tis Light and Love that again sets to so be
That innocence be not cast into poison sea.

Much As Love And Hope Defeats Blackest Blight

I shall walk from the dark into new light
Much as love and hope defeats blackest blight
So too, may faith in recovery ask
Does not the hero, in great courage bask
To stride a victor over battles fought
A winner, hero, to live again thus sought.

I shall walk from the dark into new light
To view morn again, revel in delight
So too, shall hope gift its defending shield
Much as beauty to mankind such truth yields
    Knowledge within life's wandering parade
Revealing heart's dreams are too oft overplayed.

I shall walk from the dark into new light
Beg forth a basking moon, to defeat night
So too, will joy and happiness return
As wisdom teaches, life's truths we must learn
Alas! To man a great battle to win
In this earthen sea that so darkly spins.

I shall walk from the dark into new light
Much as love and hope defeats blackest blight
So too, may faith in recovery ask
Does not the hero, in great courage bask.

I shall walk from the dark into new light.
Much as love and hope defeats blackest blight.

From A Dream, Three Quatrains Gifted

    The Searching

I went forth into the windy forest
Through thistles, thorns and falling day
Crossing umber meadows and flowing stream
Forever seeking that which hath fled away.

    The Flying

I went forth into midnight sleeping
From spinning cloud to cloud I fled
Far below, slow breeze comforted Fate
Whilst I slept alone in my bed.

    The Denying

I went forth into tomorrow's churnings
As a child lost in the sorrowing haze
The sun there was a ball of distant red
And I, falling into its infinite blaze.

    Note:
Ok, note becomes the fourth, but definitely was not intended to be..
Thus, editing it now to give it the proper title..

    The Understanding

Waking to rise, inking verse to stay afloat
O but a few words to the blue-cast skies
It was Goliath that the flying stone smote
Thus, laying devil low in his flesh-cast disguise…

    Note:
    "smote"

I love this. A short poem which tells an entire story, at least IMO. Forever searching. Many a readers can read this and simply see it in their own perspectives
“You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named "Bush", "Dick", and "Colin." Need I say more?” - Chris Rock
