Nemesis, Confrontation And The Rejoined Battle,
    Now Completed

    (Nemesis) - Part One

O'lord of blight dare thee to now abide
Leaving thy abode to earthen realm ride
As punisher with dark universal might
As grief bearer, humanity to smite!

Dar'est thee enter, after I so yield
Sheathed my sword, tossed away my shield
I that in sorrow abandoned battlefields
Seeking love, sweet peace and love's greener fields!

Venomous ire, thee again cross my path
To wage war and sate thy evil wrath
I that settled to in peace, here now live
And in the earthen realm yet again give!

Thee a true nemesis of fruitful life
Author of Hate, Evil and Human strife
Spreader of hate, plagues, and even worse
Dark sower of thy ever wicked curse!

Nemesis- thy hate I shall not allow
Nor to its savage commands ever bow
Thus I return as warrior to my place
And with divine aid thy great evil face!

I that now pledge again my solemn vow
With truth, courage and light defeat somehow
Thy legions of destruction, thy hate
Thy rejoining with darkest hand of Fate!

In this my great oath, my renewed pledge
Leave I safety, step over the edge
Not as a man, with horrid, vengeful hate
But crusader, before it is too late!

Robert J. Lindley, began in April 1981
    (Nemesis)

    ( Nemesis ) -- Part Two

O' lord of darkness, my home- you I see
As your dark minions so represent thee
From dark-cast corners out they freely race
Imbued with evil, devoid of grace.

Accursed seeds of thy hate-spewing loins
Free to tempt mankind with your poison coins
Yet with Light and Truth this blackness I see
As wickedness from thy hideous tree.

Day and night into this old house they prance
Whispering morbid curses as they dance
    I their buffoonery quickly defeat
Off they go- flames burning from clawed feet.

What an affront that such weaklings you send
You in your pride -swift victory pretend
For such foolishness I drew not my blade
Defeating with pure relish your first raid.

With Faith, Hope and Light, this warrior stands
Never bowing to your evil demands
I can see the future hour you take flight
As you are expelled, ending our fight.

Watch as this battle begins to unfold
With same results as was in the days old
Wherein, swift Sword of Light -cut you so deep
That whilst flying away- black tears you weep.

So set your mark- daring to bring your best
For in defeat, I bid you be my guest
Tomorrow morn, I again grab my shield
To find what depths of blood shall be spilled.

    ( Nemesis ) -- Part Three

Dawn breaks and sincerely its sweet calls sends
Unaware of battle the future portends
I the warrior polish my shield to shine
Knowing on my soul the beast expects to dine.

Yet from the dark shadows not a single word
As wind brings the melody of a songbird
My sword now unsheathed and razor sharp
Above sounds the notes of a divine harp.

Reminding today I face darkness and death
I bow to pray in a whispering breath
Have I greater faith in our God of Hosts
For soon the dark lord my soul thinks to roast.

Nature sends word- blessings be sent unto you
May victory be yours, the best get its dues
Suns beams down proclaiming a brighter day
Golden rays beating away shadowy grays.

From the distant hills a rumbling blast sounds
Within this heaving chest, eager heart pounds
Soon, so soon the great battle shall commence
I summon courage to this soul convince.

Suddenly sun flees away, dark clouds appear
I know the dark Lord now grows very near
Yet a new calm then within this heart grows
Steadfast courage accepts the soon coming blows.

I rise giving thanks the battle is not at night
For victory I desperately need bright light
Next the shadows all give a rousing cheer
From immense darkness, the monster appears!

    ( Nemesis ) (Conclusion) -- Part Four

Suddenly as mammoth beast upward rears
In its huge head, were seven ancient spears
Evidence of past battles that failed
Death may not come being spear impaled.

Flash from my blade caught its fierce fiery eyes
It shouting out your light this beast defies
I that lived even before this earth
Shall now measure your sharp steel, your true worth.

With that a mighty claw swiped my shield
Its sudden lunge shook the hard rocky field
My sword caught the other claw in mid stroke
Gashing out its red-blood to the ground soak.

Next its horned tail swept me off my feet
As it roared out, soon you I will eat
Come feeble child, let us dance well today
Or do you want time to uselessly pray.

In anger my next stroke slashed its side
My deep hatred I could no longer hide
All my power went into the next blow
More the hot gushing blood began to flow.

Then it came, horrendous burning hot flame
This was by far its most powerful game
Only divine armor saved my life
With its sacred words carved by my knife.

Verum licet potentia animae caelum nunc pugnare*
Force that only universe can compare
Hideous beast roared-such is not fair
I cried death- step closer if you dare.

With epic pain and a maddening hate
The mighty beast rushed to meet its fate
As my blade went deep into its black heart
Gone were the great powers those words impart.

Death's answer as was destined to be
By God's divine mercy was it not me
The beast had met a much higher power
Had succumbed at the appointed hour.

Sky then opened, pleasing wind then blew
I gazed at beast that divine words slew
Kneeling, gave thanks to the Heavens above
That we are given Light and Divine Love!

*Verum licet potentia animae caelum nunc pugnare.
    Latin- Translated-
"May with Heaven's true might this soul now fight."

    2nd note:
Was a very hard task for me to find a way (time and energy),
And an inspired ending for this narrative tale.
The older I get, the harder it seems to write and be satisfied with the results.
This will have to do- as perhaps the last time that comes --
" Verum licet potentia animae caelum nunc pugnare "…

Walk A Straight Road, And Never Spit Into The Wind

Yes to the morn and its ravishing glows
As a male I was born, with strength to spare
Complete with hairy chest and stubby toes
Reared to fight on a bet and a dare
Thank God and Fate I a warrior true born
Walked the walk and bucked the wild horse
Learned to grab the old bull by the horns
Was taught to faithfully stay the true course.

Now this man remembers such wise advice
Walk straight road, never spit into the wind
Be a kind and true friend, learn to play nice
Live life fully right up until the end.

Slow sip whiskey, give women due respect.
Work hard, never your loved ones neglect.

Back In The Autumn Of '73

    Born from memory distant scene
    rooster crowed, then peacock's preen
set the stage for a summer trek
hope alive, but barely a speck
as life its great mysteries hid
auction on, I made my first bid.

    Discovery was the youthful aim
life was then thought to be a game
yet world had far different plans
educate with pain this blind man
and that by way of a love lost
born when flowers fear the first frost.

What was sent was taken away.
Deep agony lives 'til this day.

When Deep Darkness And Shadows Race To Fore

Heartache is oft an invisible cut
Within the silent and deadly new field
Black boulders bring amidst deepening ruts,
Calamity, which oft one finds no shield.

Flung from sticky webs of hideous dark
Into the depths of an innocent soul
Unrelenting, to make a galling mark,
Its newborn despair taking wicked toll.

What to do to stop such dark woe-some flow
Destroying past happiness with its veil
Injecting agony as a new show,
Whilst poor soul often slides past gates of hell.

Dawn's welcoming sun is no longer seen
Nor those bright golden beams that heart so cheer
As despair casts forth its shadowy sheen,
Lost hope, becomes sad shades of looming fear.

Truly Revel In Nature's Gifts And Youth Recall

Rolling hills, wide countryside that gifts truly sends
Majestic sweeping waves into eager spirit
When ones' crushed heart sees, no longer pretends
This awesome landscape, so soothes just to be near it
Miles away, with its whitecapped and glowing crown
Rests a giant, slumbering through to racing ages
To see it brings a smile, washes away a frown
Reminds one of wisdom from the famous sages.

To traverse this in Spring, see its glowing glories
Where mind's eye can absorb magnitude of such
Sets a memory of golden fairytale stories
That spurred sweet childhood dreaming kids love so much.

As bright gold-cast skies above, enhance warming sun
This scene watching Nature its vast glories unfold
I, young child yet again, reveling in great fun
Race back to dear, tender memories when ten years old.

Rolling hills, wide countryside that gifts truly sends
Majestic sweeping waves into eager spirit
When ones' crushed heart sees, no longer pretends
This awesome landscape, so soothes just to be near it.

A Meadow in the Mountains: Le Mas de Saint-Paul was painted by Van Gogh in 1889 when he entered the asylum of St. Paul near Saint-Remy in Provence. Van Gogh was initially confined to the immediate asylum grounds and painted (without the bars) the world he saw from his room. Soon Van Gogh was allowed to paint in the hospital's garden, and by June was able to leave the hospital, accompanied by an attendant (Jean-Francois Poulet) to paint in the surrounding fields. He was particularly taken with the local landscape, which was his subjects over 150 canvases.

There is great rhythm in this painting that is created through these very precise brushstrokes - every stroke of paint here has a function and builds towards the greater surface pattern across the canvas. His forms are very rounded from the stacks of wheat to the mountains, and this sense of 'roundness' and curvature was something that was characteristic of many of his later works. This painting was done in July 1889, which was when he made his first trip back to Arles from the asylum, and subsequently had his first serious breakdown in Saint-Remy.

A Meadow in the Mountains: Le Mas de Saint-Paul was painted by Vincent van Gogh in December 1889.[1] It depicts fields of young wheat with a background of lilac mountains and yellowish sky.

In May 1889 Van Gogh voluntarily entered the asylum of St. Paul near Saint-Rémy in Provence.[2][3] There Van Gogh had access to an adjacent cell he used as his studio. He was initially confined to the immediate asylum grounds and painted the world he saw from his room, such as ivy covered trees, lilacs, and irises of the garden.[2][4] Van Gogh could also see an enclosed wheat field, subject of many paintings at Saint-Rémy.[5] As he ventured outside the asylum walls he painted the wheat fields, olive groves and cypress trees of the surrounding countryside,[4] which he saw as "characteristic of Provence". Over the course of the year, he painted about 150 canvases.[2]

Van Gogh sent the painting to his brother Theo in 3 January 1890, with an accompanying letter in which he refers to the work as The Fields.[6] It is now held in the Kröller-Müller Museum in the Netherland

Memories Of Youth And Nature, Were A True Blast,
In collaboration with Riabi Dziri, Besma

Beautiful dawn a Nature walk would do one good
Across the flower filled pond, into the woods
With hearty breakfast, soul could be truly blessed
This truth, with faith love must be truly confessed
Nature has its always wonders awed this eager soul
Youth my favorite poet was always Thoreau
His wondrous verses to this happy heart did sing
And Nature's beauty, its marvelous gem did bring!

My human soul blessed to be brought to this earth
By a youth whose Mother Nature the land of birth
Summer our host along with granny and grandad
Much love and sweet nature added to what we had
With daily sun walked paths till his face would fade
Flooding memories into my heart, so much weighed
“Trees are poems that dear earth writes upon the sky”
Shall we strive to embrace love letting our souls fly?

First for me was in my childhood our old farm pond
There croaking brightly the frogs which I was so fond
Game trails across flowering meadows to the hills
When I remember, I get such delightful chills
That summer morn, with golden sun gleaming so bright
And oh my, flashing fireflies we caught that sweet night
My first little green turtle what a wondrous catch
And wild ducks how I watched their batch of eggs hatch.

I still recall the wake of dawn and cockcrowing
The sight of early bird granny her goat milking
The taste of butter and ghee from the sheep skin
My great glee shaking shookwa as my head would spin
The echo of giggles when my head did dangle
Against the far end of well, laughter would jangle
How can I forget prickly pears harvest season
Despite the stinging glochid, that was my Eden.

In June, the small critters really got to going
Down by the farm's little creek, its clear stream flowing
Days I spent going across that woody terrain
I sputter trying its grand beauty to explain
That July, I read how to a forest explore
Heart and soul set to venture to another shore
That God gave us Nature's treasures, blessing indeed
Spring its colourful flowers came from Nature's seeds.

On sunny days grandpa reaped by hand wealth of land
His back bent for hours, no whine for what he could stand
Feeding and herding sheep, one other blessing and grace
Weary were his bones gratitude wearing his face
For long serving Mother Earth reaping its treasure
A forged nature and an insight beyond measure
Glory be to God recited on prayer beads
Divine favour to an offspring of beauty seeds.

    My poet's note:
My friend, it is to me is a great honor to join in composing this new collaboration with you.
That we together can write of youth and or personal lives as we grew up in our respective countries. In that we both came from a rural background with farming an integral part of our lives.
Your verses reveal that Nature was indeed an important factor in making us each the person we became.
With the important acknowledgement that beloved family gave us each so very much love and that nurturing, lead us to the Art of Poetry that became a very important part of who we are now.

Much As Love And Hope Defeats Blackest Blight

I shall walk from the dark into new light
Much as love and hope defeats blackest blight
So too, may faith in recovery ask
Does not the hero, in great courage bask
To stride a victor over battles fought
A winner, hero, to live again thus sought.

I shall walk from the dark into new light
To view morn again, revel in delight
So too, shall hope gift its defending shield
Much as beauty to mankind such truth yields
    Knowledge within life's wandering parade
Revealing heart's dreams are too oft overplayed.

I shall walk from the dark into new light
Beg forth a basking moon, to defeat night
So too, will joy and happiness return
As wisdom teaches, life's truths we must learn
Alas! To man a great battle to win
In this earthen sea that so darkly spins.

I shall walk from the dark into new light
Much as love and hope defeats blackest blight
So too, may faith in recovery ask
Does not the hero, in great courage bask.

I shall walk from the dark into new light.
Much as love and hope defeats blackest blight.
