1. *Olympic gods*

The standard 12 Olympian gods are:

Zeus
Hera
Athena
Apollo
Poseidon
Ares
Artemis
Demeter
Aphrodite
Dionysos
Hermes
Hephaistos
The Greeks did not always agree on the 12
and some lists include Hestia, Hercules
or Leto, with Dionysos often the one replaced.

2. *Poseidon

In later Greek mythology, Poseidon was the son
of Kronos and Rhea, and brother of Zeus and Hades.
He was a key figure in the battles for control
of the universe between the Titans, the Giants,
and the Olympians. On their victory, the three
brothers drew lots to decide which domain they
would reign over, and Poseidon gained the seas.
The god dwelled in magnificent golden mansions
beneath the sea, beautifully adorned with coral
and sea flowers. Traditionally, this undersea palace,
which included the god’s stables of fine white
horses, was located near Aegae in Euboea. Seemingly
not content with the seas alone, Poseidon often
interfered in the plans of Zeus, and once even
attempted to overthrow his brother with the aid
of Hera and Athena. It was as punishment for this
treachery that Poseidon was made to build the
magnificent walls of Troy.

3. * Athena

Goddess of wisdom, war and the crafts, and
favourite daughter of Zeus, Athena was, perhaps,
the wisest, most courageous, and certainly the
most resourceful of the Olympian gods.

Zeus was told that his son would take his throne
from him, just as he had taken power from his
father Cronus. Accordingly, when Metis was pregnant,
he swallowed her and Athena was born from Zeus’ head,
wearing armour and fully grown. A popular theme in
ancient Greek art, Hephaistos is often depicted in
the role of midwife, splitting Zeus’ head with an axe.

Epithets of Athena include Pallas (girl) and
Parthenos (virgin), living up to which, she is
conspicuous amongst the gods of Greek mythology for
not indulging in illicit relationships with other
divinities, demigods, or mortals. Other epithets
were Promachos (of war) - perhaps referring to more
patriotic, defensive, and strategic warfare, rather
than attacking warfare, in contrast to her more
aggressive, conflict-loving brother Ares, Ergane
(of the crafts), and Nike (victory).

Wherein Man's Dark Curse, Felled The Olympic Gods',
Part One

(I.)

Thus to blindness, the fallen god was blindly bound
In a blacken tragedy, doomed to darken earth:
Nature then refused to its soothing music sound
That of existence, death of its infinite worth
No great power to approach with pitiless pleas
As those of mortal flesh, immense creative fight
Rule all, even unto the depths of Neptune's seas
Olympus crushed by the weight of marvelous might!
Lo! Such powers in magnificent hopes and dreams
Passions that, evoke creativity's towers
The malevolence of thought brought destructive schemes
Time cast infinite blades to end the gods' powers
To be the last Olympic god to break and fall
In ever-growing shame, of all that was thus lost
Cast to this earthen realm- so pitifully small
To slumber deep, waking only to hoary frost!
Naked, cold, arms and armor were taken away
Silence and apathy both as sad, newfound friends
Newfound tribulations born each and every day
Discovering accursed void, that final end
He the last olden god, first felt dooming decay
That which was created an inferior toy
Stole light and thunder in some mysterious way
Becoming monolith, hellbent to all destroy!

Time remains invincible, its powers supreme.
Combined with Fate as an unconquerable team.

(II.)

Within invisible winds the old god cursed
Fate and its delight in a wrathful new pursuit
Had not even the gods its vanities nursed
Feeding it, tho' their immense powers it dilutes
O the deep heartbreak, that even the gods can ere
By accepting the golden crown gifted by Fate
Admitting the magnificent beauty of her
While failing to realize, such a fatal date!
Had not even Cronus once bowed to epic might
All the lesser gods submitted unto his will
And he that molded beauty of Athena's sight
He upon the earth, set man's life to overspill
Was not such wisdom and gifts deserving of more
Then his current sad and miserable plight
Of being cast down upon these cold earthen shores
While humanity revels in its future bright!
Nay! Such that justice must move forward to forbid
These machinations granting man immense powers
The horror Fate had from the olden gods this hid
Future curse of seeding mankind its dark towers
He knelt, asking the universe to now be kind
Reminding Time and Fate of his many good deeds
That of casting beauty into man's puny mind
And therein setting the birth of romantic seeds!

Time remains invincible, its powers supreme.
Combined with Fate as an unconquerable team.
