When Light Penetrates The Fog Of Fear And Darkness

When Light through the keyhole penetrates the malaise
And within that moment your soul gives sincere praise
For that divine gift that Life's sweet promise resets
Earth's clock to those times before this darkness beset
Know Truth and eternal Light never mankind fails
To conquer anything issued from pits of Hell.

Darkness fears not man but rather eternal Light.
On earth, we are in midst of that eternal fight.

When Light through the keyhole penetrates blackest Dark
And waking soul finds that Life is not just a lark
Path is made to from within the black walk away
Leave blinded fold and in earnest begin to pray.
World parades its great evils as the one true way
And sets foundation for man's greed to hold deepest sway.

Darkness fears not man but rather eternal Light.
On earth, we are in midst of that eternal fight.

When Light through the keyhole penetrates our sorrows
And we feel true fright and fear for our tomorrows
Truth reveals Light banishes that deep wicked fear
As echoes of paradise draws ever more near
Know eternal Light, Truth and Time is on our side
In that promise, certainty of man's saving tides.

Darkness fears not man but rather eternal Light.
On earth, we are in midst of that eternal fight.

Note: This is a revamping of an older poem.
One written four decades ago when I was a
mere twenty-six years old and then faced
a time of darkest dark in my life. I have
revamped it to modern times to address
this dark plague that the world faces now
and to yet again point out that the eternal
truth that mankind has a great purpose
than our time here on earth is a mere blink
of the eye. And nothing, nothing, nothing
can ever even come close to defeating that
    our fated destiny.
Death and Darkness are only temporary,
while Light and Divine Promise is Eternal.

    Quote:
“Youth has no age.” – Pablo Picasso

As She Found A Way To Dearest Life Meet

As she woke, Light streams down
Dawn then spoke, Love your gown
Rise to day, its glory sweet
Find a way, to dear life meet.

As she rose, morn gave call
Her bare toes, long cold hall
    So alive, Love asking more
    Born to thrive, sumptuous score.

As her heart, beat in time
    Day's start, her life sublime
    Never late, Light's softest gleam
True her Fate, passion her dream.

As she sang, soul did rise
    Music rang, no surprise
Red sun came, its glow so sweet
Love no game, its truth she greets.

As she knew, eyes were bright
Her Love grew, hours of night
When sleep came, Love its gifts gave
Sought no fame, his Love did save.

As she woke, Light streams down
Dawn then spoke, Love your gown
Rise to day, its glory sweet
Find a way, to dear life meet.

    Note-
First stanza of this poem came to me
in a dream last night. I woke 1:42 am,
got up and jotted it down, then rose this morn
at 5:30 am to start to compose the rest of it.
I recall writing poems in the 6677 syllable form
back in 1972. Maybe a dozen or more poems.
Those poems were stolen and burned in 1975.
So this is a rebirth of a youthful foray into creating
a new form to play in.....
And yes, the "she" in the poem was a real person
that I once knew and once so truly and deeply loved...
Hope you may enjoy reading this new piece..

As That Dawning Hour, In Her Journey She Knew She Was Too Late
Posted at my new blog -Lesser Known Poets Series- continued,
are there two new poems written, honoring sixth poet chosen,
James Thomson inspired by his great poem- The City of Dreadful Night
    BY JAMES THOMSON (BYSSHE VANOLIS)

    (1.)

As That Dawning Hour, In Her Journey She Knew She Was Too Late

Beneath ashen skies and life's treasured ships - underneath deep tides,
ghosts, remorse, memories, all lost in yesteryear's breath abides.

She hurt, gone, life's truth that can never again be
blissful passions that burn swellings of singing seas
came aches, dreams lost, epic fluttering- heart's desires
broken sight of that ring, within massively raging fires
ghastly renderings of shattered hopes, faith without any gains
relentless moaning throughout night's aching and torturous pains!

Beneath ashen skies and life's treasured ships - underneath deep tides,
ghosts, remorse, memories, all lost in yesteryear's breath abides.

She found, old castle fallen down, in sad decay
remembering youth a'callin', knelt she to pray
amidst ruins that rumbled fiery flames in her soul
to consume shattered disappointments of life wearily droll
there within that moment, trepidation fanned sorrow's flames
with trembling lips, she cried, "All this, my weeping heart truly blames"!

Beneath ashen skies and life's treasured ships - underneath deep tides,
ghosts, remorse, memories, all lost in yesteryear's breath abides.

She knew, never more would sweetest of touch she feel
fiery embers that from loving heart none can steal
nights of love, ecstasy that seals desire's great need
and from that epic dying of love's loss, she never be freed
gasping as morbid thoughts delivered knowledge of Life and Fate
as that dawning hour, in her journey she knew she was too late!

Beneath ashen skies and life's treasured ships - underneath deep tides,
ghosts, remorse, memories, all lost in yesteryear's breath abides.

Breaking, Those Invisible Chains Once Holding Me

waiting, until hurt yields its epic pains,
victim of no worries, no risks, no gains

    wandering earthbound
    pondering no sound
ghosting through life, as tormented lost soul
ripped heart begging, come please fill this hole

waiting, until hurt yields its epic pains,
victim of no worries, no risks, no gains

    cascading earthbound
    evading profound
fallen, into spirals of black despair
tipped into blackness of its darken lair

waiting, until hurt yields its epic pains,
victim of no worries, no risks, no gains

    defending earthbound
    pretending sane-bound
waking to gasps from life's abundant glee
    breaking, invisible chains holding me

waiting, until light destroys dark remains,
victor, claiming new joyous treasured gains

Under Bright Bloody-Red Midnight Moon, Raven Plays

Yes, those horrific screams, came from below
those frosty chills, born from eerie glow
echoes bouncing off tall bloody-red walls
terror and fear from Raven's midnight calls!

Hold tight, darkness plays on this evil night.
Hidden out of sight, beasts of monstrous might.

Yes, agony and pain, a wafting tune
innocent souls weep, gasping ladies swoon
for the beast can any image assume
and savage with sharp claws all in its doom!

Hold tight, darkness plays on this evil night.
Hidden out of sight, beasts of monstrous might.

Yes, your turn may come about very soon
souls must die under this accursed moon
while just beneath, under graves freshly dug
devilish imps give victims wicked hugs!

Hold tight, darkness plays on this evil night.
Hidden out of sight, beasts of monstrous might.

Yes, night skies rain down sorrows and deep woes
they can not fight minus their feet and toes
within blackest wails, demon songs are sung
from swirling walls, blood-dripping heads are hung!

Hold tight, darkness plays on this evil night.
Hidden out of sight, beasts of monstrous might.

Yes, from life's descent into dark abyss
from love's romantic touch to serpent's kiss
many woke to nightmare in brightest red
no longer alive and yet not quite dead!

Hold tight, darkness plays on this evil night.
Hidden out of sight, beasts of monstrous might.

Yes, only dawn's light can this evil stop
for on this night Raven's sweet hell did drop
Raven hates all that its ghost decries
for its touch falls from night's angry black skies!

Hold tight, darkness plays on this evil night.
Hidden out of sight, beasts of monstrous might.

Master Poe Swore With Raven He Had No More Ties

Iron chains loud rattling and cell door rusted shut
weakened soul, prayed food for his swollen, aching gut
decades had slowly flown by, Time had there oft stopped
Fate into hellish pit had his torn body dropped!

With broken heart and unbearable anguished cries.
Master Poe swore with Raven he had no more ties!

In absolute dark, in tiny cell he was chained
full of remorse, sad regret that had his life stained
begging to be freed to die a true and just death
each and every hour praying for his last short breath!

With broken heart and unbearable anguished cries.
Master Poe swore with Raven he had no more ties!

Sounds from far above and echoes of Raven's shrieks
Master Poe heard evil curses as Raven speaks
knew Raven was torturing more innocent souls
in black castles evil midnight bells rang out tolls!

With broken heart and unbearable anguished cries.
Master Poe swore with Raven he had no more ties!

From deeper within, chorus of laughter and glee
chained there were those so happily too blind to see
waiting on bounty promised from Raven's great lies
born from lustful dreams those chained forever deny!

With broken heart and unbearable anguished cries.
Master Poe swore with Raven he had no more ties!

As Poe wept, sweet soft voice he from a bright light heard
telling him, his last breath would come from his true words
and that new found peace in his new and well lit heart
would hold He and his foe's dark's deeds so far apart!

With broken heart and unbearable anguished cries.
Master Poe swore with Raven he had no more ties!

I wrote a very positive poem full of life, light and optimism. Still
in the process of editing it to present on my home poetry site.
Had to give balance by composing a dark piece- And Edgar Allan Poe
instantly came to mind. And so did the idea of making it a bit harder
task by doing doubles with both poems matching- equal numbers..

In His Longings, She Goddess Truly Born

In his castle built of sharp jagged rocks
alone, so far from Life's usual shocks
with a faithful guard dog, his only friend
he left world's fantasy, all it pretends!

In his own realm, devoid of Life's sad pains
atop a mountain, always seeking gain
he sees Nature's grand beauty and much more
across mythical seas, touching Love's shores!

In his true heart, he hears her as she calls
and every time again in Love he falls
sweetest musical notes, her voice, that tune
they dancing there under soft glowing moon!

In his longings, she goddess truly born
sent to give relief, from Life once forlorn
their each and every kiss a treasure stored
pure joy, away from world's dark angry horde!

In his bliss, prays this world never invades
with its pomp, vanities and sad parades
for he knows his greatest dream has came true
have faith, for such can one day come to you!

In his castle built of sharp jagged rocks
alone, so far from Life's usual shocks
with a faithful guard dog, his only friend
he left world's fantasy, all it pretends!

At Peace And In Sweet Awe Of Bronze Shaving Of New Rising Moon

Night, its darkened whispers had come, its silence had fallen
there in the midst of Nature with its deep woods a'callin'
campfire burning and crackling, 'neath Heaven and sky above
away from city throngs, Life- world's impudent push and shove.
Staring peacefully at space- into Heaven's glowing glitter
feeling harmony with night, Nature and its roaming critters
at peace and in sweet awe of bronze shaving of new rising moon
a sad thought flung its poison arrows, this ends far too soon!

Fire had burned its music, lowered its bright flashing flames
solemn was that moment, as again heard- this Life is no game
for despite this beauty, luminous glows of this-- God's design
echoing words reminding, all this cries- all is a sent sign
and Life is its purpose, Love is truly its greatest treasure
by Light of truth and wisdom, man may find his true measure
and far off, an owl hoots and midnight sounds play a fair tune
blessed marvelous revelation, that summer night in June!

Gentle winds a'blowin', such paradise I pray more may find
great knowing, in giving and receiving- Love is truly kind
before sleeping, time to again look deep into Heaven's glow
hold joy and pleasure as Nature's blessed magnificence shows
man the pilgrim, earth the spinning realm, death the dark slayer
ships are slow sailing, seas are rolling, we are but mere players
waves tossing to and fro, Light is shining with God at the helm
we'll be alright, if we let not world's wicked ways overwhelm!

Night, its darkened whispers had come, its silence had fallen
there in the midst of Nature with its deep woods a'callin'
campfire burning and crackling, 'neath Heaven and sky above
away from city throngs, Life- world's impudent push and shove.

Composed from memory of a most blessed night spent in my youth.
A new composing of a poem I wrote that it now seems centuries ago.
Tho' the original was stolen and burned--I remembered enough of it
to set this piece. That morn, I rose as a new man. No longer as
blinded as was my previous state. Still far from perfect but at least
able to stumble a bit less. Now I can see better and know Life gives
and it certainly and grievously takes. Yet when feeling low, feeling
down in the blues, a day and night in/with Nature will give a true
and dedicated seeker signs and all those divinely crafted and Nature
sent clues. Life is what you choose to make it. So choose wisely.
I may be mistaken, but I believe the original was a far better piece. -RJL

The Nightmare And The Chaos Raven Sent Into Poe's Poetic World

Waking into delusions of long dead rainbows and slow dying clouds
hard fallen mountains, enchanted winds and long black veiled shrouds
echoes of vanity, time that spawned whimpers of daring deceits
ice castles in deserts of despair, stone sandals on thorny bled feet.

Wherein lies fantasy, audacity of damnation and epic defeat
spilled blood and prophecy by ghosts of favors that lie to cheat
weeping dawns, roosters whispering beyond midnight cuts and cries
O' graveyard shadow, why beg to dance below saddened moonlit skies?

Days gasping into rivers of destruction and great clawed beasts
sunsets eating into valleys hiding banquets of fresh blood feasts
Alas! Shall ever those accursed verses of Poe this lost soul feel
or horror from agonizing loss as Love from heart burns to steal?

Pregnant pause, shrieks of arrogance and golden follies of mankind
circles of smoke and eternity within galaxies of devilish minds
ancient such wanderings into forbidden realms and Raven's abode
seas of lonely and the travesties of stories never to be told!

Waking into delusions of dead rainbows and slow dying clouds
Wherein lies fantasy, audacity of damnation and epic defeat
Days gasping into rivers of destruction and great clawed beasts
Pregnant pause, shrieks of arrogance and golden follies of mankind!

Poetic Verses Cast On Angel Of My First True Love

Red dust stirring in her footsteps, grace in her shoes
she was a fearful angel, between old world and new
sweetness and joy in her bounty, purple in her blues
singing roads rarely traveled, in rhythms soft and true.

Her music ate into majestic sad and bony marrows,
gypsy of tomorrows, poetess flying upon desperation carols.

Red thorns set to bar her, from nights purely mellow
I her blinded witness, she a rose gleaming bright yellow
we stranded seekers, ignorant of life, its great dangers
lost in cavernous echoes, attended by ghostly strangers.

Her music ate into majestic sad and bony marrows,
gypsy of tomorrows, poetess flying upon desperation carols.

Hope fleeing as wherein her path broken rainbows fell
she innocent victim of Life, its many vicious hells
joining in her journey, a boy dying to be truly free
vows yet unspoken, twixt her soul and heart within me!

Her music ate into majestic sad and bony marrows,
gypsy of tomorrows, poetess flying upon desperation carols.

Red dust stirring in her footsteps, grace in her shoes
she was a fearful angel, between old world and new
sweetness and joy in her bounty, purple in her blues
singing roads rarely traveled, in rhythms soft and true.

Her music ate into majestic sad and bony marrows,
gypsy of tomorrows, poetess flying upon desperation carols.

    noun
    plural noun: marrows
    1. a soft fatty substance in the cavities of bones, in which blood cells are produced (often taken as typifying strength and vitality).

    Note (2.):
Only girl that I ever loved that also wrote true and heartfelt poetry...
Left seeking future mysteries, as Life and Hope both our hearts fled...

When Yesterday's Ghost Rises From Its Grave,
(4th poem, From my blog, A Quartet Of Poems
    )

When yesterday's ghost rises from its grave
telling your dastardly sins to behave
can that midnight hour your spirit then feel
poison arrows in your Achilles heel
slow melting marrows in your weeping bones
    transcendence in your heartbreaking tones?

O'tell me that torture, how does it pain
Will your rebellion ever let you be sane?

In cold dark that your lost soul too oft plays
sorrows born 'neath Heaven's pleading stairways
can new Life and Love your agony heal
or with devil's oath you dare make a deal,
fast drying tears spat upon cracked sidewalks
crimes with Mother Nature you dare not talk!

O'tell me that torture, how does it pain
Will your rebellion ever let you be sane?

When yesterday's ghost rises from its grave
telling your dastardly sins to behave
can that midnight hour your spirit then feel
poison arrows in your Achilles heel

Regrets Of True Gems Never Gathered

Clarity and truth is in the telling
rose's beauty is fragrance and our smelling
life races onward, as mind's recordings
far too oft, stolen gems we are hoarding.

Forever lost are times given in youth
as we sometimes hide from life's golden truths
and live on to find our great deep regrets
because of error of hedging our bets.

Alas! Realized are chances not taken
as we seek that which is God forsaken
    later finding a disappointing loss
finding each regret a most bitter sauce!

Many are gems remembered from youth
Only to find great folly in sooth.

Of Fate And The Choosing Between Scylla and Charybdis
(From Continued Greek Heroes And Mythology Series)
    Part Two.)

    *********************************************

Of Fate And The Choosing Between Scylla and Charybdis

    (I.)

Evil forces choice, either flee or choose another path
choosing between Scylla and Charybdis, that of twin wrath
mankind feeble pawn, turbulent vessel of flesh and bones
set between rock and a hard place, Hades black undertones
or walk onward into blindness as a casualty
chained and bound, victim of evil's great ingenuity.

    (II.)

A quandary, such as Odysseus once had to face
either battling six-headed beast or drowning in disgrace
Time ever offers up this agonizing, sadden choice
for fallen man, cursed to answer with ill fated voice
deciding, life and death- battle bravely or try to flee
from living nightmare between the devil and deep blue sea.

    (III.)

Homer's Iliad And The Odyssey, tells such travails
as a Greek hero battles Dark's many ravenous Hells
with Hope and Love in his magnificent, courageous heart
his salvation, only looking to Heaven can impart
yet with wit and faith he later his destination made
while never honor, love of family had he betrayed.

    (IV.)

What of world and its cacophony of screaming bandits
living without honor, with its insidious gambits
too often begging Lady Luck make every gamble pay
instead of placing faith in Truth and kneeling down to pray
with Scylla and Charybdis, each echoing vicious threats
only by divine light, one avoids such destructive nets.

    (V.)

Such in malevolent world, often rears its ugly head
we seek treasure, when one should embrace Love and Light instead
and in our feasting, selfish desires, our new Fated road
we must face accursed bounty of treasures we were sold
slaves living blinded by ambitions, in world full of chains
ships in distress, sinking from tons of our ill gotten gains.

    (VI.)

Shall we choose wisely, seeking serenity in the Light
reaping harvest that comforts even in darkest of nights
sail upon bluer seas, watching gleaming heavens soft glow
riding peaceful waves, praying our loving families grow
knowing goodness and mercy will be our blessed rewards
or else continue playing on with, world's stacked deck of cards?

She Wore Blue Dress, Flowers Her Laurel Crown

She had only soft blue skies and romance
Attending angels at her beck and call
A golden life, with nothing left to chance
All her lovers came from Valhalla's halls.
A beauty, with glowing emerald eyes
With red lips begging ravishing desires
A true vixen, fallen from moonlit skies
Siren setting hungry souls on fire!

She wore blue dress, flowers her laurel crown
This I confess, her kisses honeyed gems
Remember her in lush silk morning gown
Brightest golden thread adorning its hem.
Her red lips, havens of hottest retreat
Hands begging to be held, heart pleading more
Manna, a lover would relish to eat,
    Visions of paradise's welcoming shore!

Of The Full Sum And The Withering Of The Vine

As whispering grass across moaning plains
so flows beautiful rays in morn's soft breath
signs, vestiges of mankind's earthen gains
are as time's snowflakes, melting unto death.

0' why does life give mystery to man's plight
crossing the bar and wedding such sad woes
building hurt, fortresses of futile might
paining every which way the ill winds blow.

Colors of hope as petals open wide
    flowering meadows, flowing waters clear
splashing waves of bright moonlit midnight tides
remind of life and those we hold most dear.

So race the throngs, seeking forever more
that plenitude of love, life and great wealth
treasure as so sent from fantasy shores
    blessings of serenity, lifelong health.

Are we not the same as those ancient born
living reapers of earth's bountiful fruits
birthed and from mother's fullest breast thus torn
a product of our deep family roots?

Earth and sky, wondrous realm, wherein we roam
as vassals unto a world dark and grey
sailing along on a rock we call home
plundering all until our ending days.

As whispering grass across moaning plains
so flows beautiful rays in morn's soft breath
signs, vestiges of mankind's earthen gains
are as time's snowflakes, melting unto death.

"Horus in Paradise", this is my tribute and
homage paid to a very, fine poetess, and for
such an inspirational poem that gave rise to me
setting pen to hand and composing on the spot.
