    The Vigilant Struggle

Hopeless now, to fight against Fate and Time
put pen to paper, write verses in rhyme
Battle raging storms and eternal wind
all to hold fast racing dream with no end
Yet no other choice does man's spirit give
except to struggle forever to live
Deep within scenes of longing and praying
poetic mind, reveals what heart is saying
Blind obedience to poet's mystical muse
gifting true seeking soul for her to use
And in that act of writing as a team
may come more than wailing cries, so it seems

For shining trails into the dark unknown
one may through dance and blazing fires have grown

Time Runs On Past Every Bend

Down new trail with purpose and gentle ease
chasing hope and new morn's glowing smile.
Flowing along with a sunrise breeze
heart stopping awe, every once in a while.

Branches overhead wrapped in deep forest green
bird songs filling this emerald isle.
Sun gracing the screaming sky blue sheen
    above this leaf carpeted aisle.

Hoping time here never dares to end
as wanting heart finds its needed glow.
Yet find that time runs on past every bend
and brings Nature's all, along in tow.

Down new trail with purpose and gentle ease
spirit flows along with a sunrise breeze.

Whiskey Was Burning, Talking In Third Rate Time

Bloody fist in a broken glass window this sad night
she was willing but my whiskey only wanted to fight.
Stair steps swirling, waiting so far down below
winter was freezing long before this hellish snow.

Midnight has caught me frozen near half to death
her cries were icy and pain in her every breath.
Moon bellowed forth, stick it, twist it in deep
dagger needs its blood before this night's sleep.

Whiskey was burning, talking in third rate time
my soul was broken, not worth a damn dime.
Her heart was cut and her blood ran so cold
She is a devil and my fevered brain now too old.

Bloody fist in a broken glass window this sad night
she was willing but my whiskey only wanted to fight.

OLD NOTE-- YES, WHISKEY IS STILL SURGING IN MY VEINS
MATCHING BURNING HURT AND ANOTHER LOST LOVE..
SCAR ON MY LEFT HAND STILL REMINDS ME,
LIFE IS OFTEN JUST CRAP AND LOVE TOO DAMN OFTEN JUST A BURNT TREE...

NEW NOTE- Written at age 19, young and full of piss and vinegar.
Can I recall that night? Yes, and the blood and the scar still reminds me,
mental pain is so often worse than physical pain.
A wild mustang that paid some very heavy dues and fought a world hellbent on destroying me...

In Each Dark Battle Are Gems Still Hiding

I linger far too long in past glances
repairing my heart from such ancient pains.
I that carelessly took too many chances
now look back at far, far too many stains.

No shadows that follow bear good tidings
where tired spirit seeks safe shade and deep rests.
In each dark battle are gems still hiding
in green forests upon snow covered crests.

Long has been the widening path taken
where night-moon and bright sun upon man shine.
All seems so lost but hope is not forsaken
death is dark-food upon which Fate does dine.

Tarry not, road slows, end-game is in sight.
There sleep, basking in its eternal light.

Dark Seed Begs A Black Crop

Seed was planted, man's heart found death is dark,
    where great truth was recanted,
    misery brazenly stark.
Black hearts race forth , never getting their fill,
    falling forever downward,
    where Fate delivers its kill.

Weep Ye Not At Death's Dark Release

Fear ye not, life and heartache fly away,
past and future blend to give hope.
We are flesh and remain weak that way,
so often hung high with a new rope.

New dawn and clouds bring what they may,
day races into night's awaiting dreams.
We are flesh and too often fail to pray,
chasing our greed and foolish schemes.

Bright stars cast forth a comforting glow,
beneath world and its rushing hurts.
In blindness we crawl and fail to show,
but very little in fleeting spurts.

A curse embraced, results we do not know,
graveyard beckons, deep is the lost sea.
Never sought, never found, loves true glow,
we water nothing but greed's barren tree.

Weep ye not at death's dark release,
    journeying into that unknown place.
Jason found no treasured golden fleece,
nor love's beauty in death's dark face.

In hell, man walks looking for that out,
cries sad tears, hope his only aid.
As he battles, begs with pleading shout,
save me from this death I've made.

Alas, Fate hears too and tags along,
casting its pains and well tangled nets.
Man dreams and may even sing a song,
life dances on and he gets what he gets.

Life may be but long shadowed dreams,
false gold found in empty chests.
    Happiness grabbed in rarest moonbeams,
where mercy gives its gifted rests.

Fear ye not, life and heartache fly away,
past and future blend to give hope.
We are flesh and remain weak that way,
so often hung high with a new rope.

    Old note--
    Future seems a fleeting dream.
Each day a fight to battle night's shadows.

    New note--
    Future has come.
Battle rages on and Time (the true enemy) has its new weapons .

For rust and blood stains my old, battered shield
cuts scar my shining armor 's long lost glow.
I refuse to fall, vowing to never willingly yield
to this Fate's loss and its fast melting snow.

    When May I Rest

    Hard upon faded earth
    Tombstone rests there
    Greatest gems, not her worth
    Love we did share

    Heaven sent treasure found
    Once her sun shone
    Beneath earth she lays bound
    Our time now gone

    Fallen sky weeps her loss
    Rivers her dream
    There sailing her white cross
    Green grass her stream

Where shall peace now be had
    When may I rest
My death, I will be glad
    My last request

Kindness Is Fruit One May Easily Give

Give kind words to one in desperate need
till the hungry ground for a fertile crop.
A life can be saved by casting that seed
yielding forth sweet fruits that may never stop.

Each new day, look for the good to be done
by shining light on others in dark night.
Salvation tis' not measured by the ton
but by the greatness of pure love's bright light.

Planting hope's first crop and seeing it grow
often the greatest treasure one may find.
Do that for faith and love, and not for show
be thee blessed and rewarded in kind.

Kindness is fruit one may easily give.
True journey and path to forever live.

Tyr, I'm getting ready to join your poetry BS if it'll get me away from all these damned Trump and Hillary threads. Jesus H. Christ.

I got your number now though ... this is how you keep your sanity.

Dude, don't mess up tyr's poetry threads. They're his he's in charge. And he likes them. You can can screw with me somewhere else. I did catch the rhyme. but unless you're doing actual poetry, jerk with me elsewhere.

He's a happy guy with his little world and I can totally understand. I apologize for injecting politics. The juxtaposition was me trying to get away from it.

A Brave Warrior Passed On His Battle Scars

Great warrior gave me his used battle sword
battered and bloody stained with glowing red.
Greatest of gems in hidden treasure hoard
now his adventure is long gone, long dead.

There was deep kindness in his last giving
    generous, bound with honorable pride.
Superb gem, passed on to one now living
respect well earned, he had nothing to hide.

Ages have swiftly flown by, and his gem shines
mirrors the seeking light in my tired soul.
As the end approaches, past fights refines
the depths of my long journey's desired goal.

A brave warrior passed on his battle scars.
Adding again, treasures to distant stars.

Looking Back At Time's Receding Echoes

I write so that my mind will thus obey
Commands that memory and heart reveal
Rare gems reside in every dawn's new day
Increasing passion in all we may feel

I look back at Time's receding echoes
With pain for losses sadly meant to be
Walking back, bare-footed with seeking toes
caressing sands of future dying sea

What of glories fallen and now long gone
Deep loves that too soon withered on the vine
Mere mortals, weak beasts wrapped in flesh and bone
Forever beg, more rot on which to dine

Where will a man's path deliver his heart
If carrion fills his deep trailing cart

When Her Own Payment Came Due

Came torturing moment that she just knew
he could never be her eternal love
No old age, everlasting for the two
their love would die, no reprieve from above
Yet his touch scorched her into frenzy
days were spent fighting loss's sad arrival
His kiss sent her world into a tizzy
afterwards she'd fight for her survival
Finding Fate hard, seeing future regrets
nights now spent enjoying lover's touch
Present time was just as good as it gets
for burning love seared her far, far too much

Dawn broke, came that sad moment she just knew
Years flown by, now her own payment came due

Cursed With These Black Mid-Nights And That Sinister Call

Past midnight, gloomy sky and red flailing moon begged to fall
A dark figure stared upward chanting curses at my home
No sleep tonight for great evil sought my desperate soul
I that had settled here in Castle rouge, never again to roam,
was cursed with these black mid-nights and that sinister call
Soon that black soul would invade this sanctuary of my weary mind
utterly shatter yet again my long aching heart's brief rest
Waiting for the anguished moans and nail scratching sounds
I sought courage to survive tonight this demonic test
and before dawn dear magnificent sleep my soul thus find
Moaning and chain rattling echoes arrived at my bedroom door
My thoughts turned to her and why she still cursed me so
Had not I gave her my true love and my cherished all
Only to see her in blood-soaked dress out the door go
Yes, my loves had always wept and demanded too much more
In a bright flash through the bedroom door she flew
Willing moonlight shining upon her long , dagger-like nails
I stepped back, again I yielded to regret and abject fear
odors of rotting meat and stingers in her three tails
Pierced my side as scorching hot pain in my mind grew
Nay, never again would I allow her these great strikes back
And smile of victory her new black heart so dearly sought
For in my hand, was the dagger of my stone cold truth
with the ring of relief my blood had previously bought
Stabbing in deep, dagger stopped her in her evil track
With that anguished and screeching cry she flew away
giving rise to the glory of sunrise and newborn hope
Today I recall - that evil beaming from her cold dead eyes
and her death- the night I hung her with a new rope
For darkness in my burning soul had always held its sway

Past midnight, gloomy sky and flailing red moon begged to fall
A dark figure stared upward chanting curses at my home
No sleep tonight for great evil sought my desperate soul
I that had settled here in Castle rouge, never again to roam,
was cursed with these black mid-nights and that sinister call
