In Soft Glowing Mistress Flame Of The Beauty's Breath
    - a collaboration with Susan Ashley

In soft glowing mistress flame of thy beauty's breath
your heart swears purest love even unto its death
with future treasures that our great love will provide
our romance, more powerful than storm's surging tide.

My dearest, nothing more precious that I can see
Than this gift of love, thy heart given unto me.

Our meeting that first night, with bright moon gasping down
you and your fantastic smile, in that dark blue gown
an air of true-born grace as you laughed in your dance
myself in rapt awe of our new-budding romance.

My dearest, nothing more precious that I can see
Than this gift of mirth, thy smile given unto me.

Year later and we have fore-sworn our lives to wed
in love's deepest promise unto we are both dead
such a bounty I could have never dared to ask
for in your presence this soul begs more time to bask.

My dearest, nothing more precious that I can see
Than this gift of bliss, thy joy given unto me.

Our fervor both the rushing waves and placid seas
together riding gusty winds to balmy breeze
to rise and fall unfurling wild desires and dreams
and revel in our wedded lives entwining seams.

My dearest, nothing more precious that I can see
Than this gift of love, thy zest given unto me.

Enchanted is our rollick with enraptured time
we whirl on beats in sync since chapel bells did chime
a life without each other seems so long ago
as hungers’ honeyed sweetness lulls in afterglow.

My dearest, nothing more precious that I can see
Than this gift of vows, thy pledge given unto me.

Pleasures wander mazes thrilled with wanton wonder
heart to heart together drum a song of thunder
a roar that crosses vast expanse of cumulus
the lightning of our passion ever luminous.

My dearest, nothing more precious that I can see
Than this gift of love, thy heart given unto me.

    Note:

This is from a long poem that was first started back in 1981

It was never completed, I now have decided to complete it.

With the hope that it shall merit as being a worthy creation

And perhaps a warning to the youth of today about the ever

Present and that very real evil lurking in this earthen realm,

always ready to pounce and destroy the innocent the

unsuspecting ones. At this point, I have not a clue how long this

piece shall become. Or what amount of time it shall take- since

my wife's cancer surgery is scheduled for March 24th , 2021..

My time to write after that day will likely be severely limited.

Nemesis, Confrontation And The Rejoined Battle
    (Nemesis) - Part One

O'lord of blight dare thee to now abide
Leaving thy abode to earthen realm ride
As punisher with dark universal might
As grief bearer, humanity to smite!

Dar'est thee enter, after I so yield
Sheathed my sword, tossed away my shield
I that in sorrow abandoned battlefields
Seeking love, sweet peace and love's greener fields!

Venomous ire, thee again cross my path
To wage war and sate thy evil wrath
I that settled to in peace, here now live
And in the earthen realm yet again give!

Thee a true nemesis of fruitful life
Author of Hate, Evil and Human strife
Spreader of hate, plagues, and even worse
Dark sower of thy ever wicked curse!

Nemesis- thy hate I shall not allow
Nor to its savage commands ever bow
Thus I return as warrior to my place
And with divine aid thy great evil face!

I that now pledge again my solemn vow
With truth, courage and light defeat somehow
Thy legions of destruction, thy hate
Thy rejoining with darkest hand of Fate!

In this my great oath, my renewed pledge
Leave I safety, step over the edge
Not as a man, with horrid, vengeful hate
But crusader, before it is too late!

Robert J. Lindley, began in April 1981
    (Nemesis)

    ( Nemesis ) -- Part Two

O' lord of darkness, my home- you I see
As your dark minions so represent thee
From dark-cast corners out they freely race
Imbued with evil, devoid of grace.

Accursed seeds of thy hate-spewing loins
Free to tempt mankind with your poison coins
Yet with Light and Truth this blackness I see
As wickedness from thy hideous tree.

Day and night into this old house they prance
Whispering morbid curses as they dance
    I their buffoonery quickly defeat
Off they go- flames burning from clawed feet.

What an affront that such weaklings you send
You in your pride -swift victory pretend
For such foolishness I drew not my blade
Defeating with pure relish your first raid.

With Faith, Hope and Light, this warrior stands
Never bowing to your evil demands
I can see the future hour you take flight
As you are expelled, ending our fight.

Watch as this battle begins to unfold
With same results as was in the days old
Wherein, swift Sword of Light -cut you so deep
That whilst flying away- black tears you weep.

So set your mark- daring to bring your best
For in defeat, I bid you be my guest
Tomorrow morn, I again grab my shield
To find what depths of blood shall be spilled.

    ( Nemesis ) -- Part Three

Dawn breaks and sincerely its sweet calls sends
Unaware of battle the future portends
I the warrior polish my shield to shine
Knowing on my soul the beast expects to dine.

Yet from the dark shadows not a single word
As wind brings the melody of a songbird
My sword now unsheathed and razor sharp
Above sounds the notes of a divine harp.

Reminding today I face darkness and death
I bow to pray in a whispering breath
Have I greater faith in our God of Hosts
For soon the dark lord my soul thinks to roast.

Nature sends word- blessings be sent unto you
May victory be yours, the best get its dues
Suns beams down proclaiming a brighter day
Golden rays beating away shadowy grays.

From the distant hills a rumbling blast sounds
Within this heaving chest, eager heart pounds
Soon, so soon the great battle shall commence
I summon courage to this soul convince.

Suddenly sun flees away, dark clouds appear
I know the dark Lord now grows very near
Yet a new calm then within this heart grows
Steadfast courage accepts the soon coming blows.

I rise giving thanks the battle is not at night
For victory I desperately need bright light
Next the shadows all give a rousing cheer
From immense darkness, the monster appears!

    ( Nemesis ) -- Part Four to come…

    Quote- Henri Barbusse

""We are all, always, the desire not to die. This desire is as immeasurable and varied as life's complexity, but at bottom this is what it is: To continue to be, to be more and more, to develop and to endure. All the force we have, all our energy and clearness of mind serve to intensify themselves in one way or another. We intensify ourselves with new impressions, new sensations, new ideas. We endeavour to take what we do not have and to add it to ourselves. Humanity is the desire for novelty founded upon the fear of death. That is what it is.""

Dying A Little With Each And Every Breath

Within depths of human life, a radiant flame
Born from a spark, an unfathomable clear beat
Although world teaches that life is but a sad game
One that accepts the victories of those that cheat!

Lies refuted by radiance of divine light
As clear as tides caressing shores from waltzing seas
Mankind, wakes to new dawn but fails to walk aright
For from the love and truth far too often he flees!

Alas! World accelerates the dark within mankind
Seeded from birth, darkness unto each coming death
Lost soul, forbidding light to enter heart and mind
Dying a little with each and every breath!

Lies refuted by radiance of divine light.
Mankind, wakes to new dawn but fails to walk aright!

    Quote:
If there were no night, we would not appreciate the day,
nor could we see the stars and the vastness of the heavens.
We must partake of the bitter with the sweet.
There is a divine purpose in the adversities we encounter every day.
They prepare, they purge, they purify, and thus they bless.

For Light Then Plants Its Invincible Seeds

In that deep darkness, no pity exists
Fate too often decries such on its list
Of destruction and sad, sorrowful woes
Those mortal man feels as hard, heavy blows
Once held within, eyes bled fast to go blind
While lost hope too, seeds a worm-wooded mind!

In that set malaise, how can love rejoice
Human soul sees life as having no choice
But to bend, bow and admit utter defeat
For evil wins and evil always cheats
Agony cries, beast on human flesh dines
Where struggling in morbid black, no light shines!

In that sepulchre no pleas can escape
This world seems but a devilish landscape
Born not for man but for deep disaster
And in it, Fate and Death are two masters
Such is the great power that darkness holds
Mankind seems to be made from broken molds!

Let one ray of Light enter that abyss
Fate then finds that its poison arrows miss
For Light then plants its invincible seeds
Tends new garden removing all the weeds
And Death, its dark-dreaded touch must then wait
For Heaven above cast Light changing Fate!

As Moon Hid Amongst Night's Convenient Clouds

From out of the invisible it came
    Epically silent, without a name
A deepened hush before the fall
That bestirs, what memory now recalls
Cold black mist, embracing night and eating
All too tired to be swiftly fleeting
She that feared not its destructive wake
Death walked earth, to her sweet life take.

From out of the invisible it came.
    Epically silent, without a name.

Cold And Alone, Innocent Child Asks Why

Hopeless and lost, the child looked up to the sky
very cold and afraid, pleadingly asking why
As only silence returned, child knew the truth
cruel world savagely attacks innocent youth.

Dare we strive in our giving much greater concern
for those poor kids, darkness seeks to punish and burn
Are not we, the mature charged to take that care
weighing on in to the heaviest load thus bear?

Will we remain cold, aloof and say not tis my job
watching as innocence dark world from the child robs
Dare we wake to this savage evil, seek to save
proving we are truly kind and dutifully brave?

Hopeless and lost, the child looked up to the sky.
Very cold and afraid, pleadingly asking why?

Love And Reciprocation Oft Fantasy Of Lonely Hearts

She saw such handsome features, his eyes and strong arms
She - ravishing creature succumbed to his dear charms
Her ecstasy was a river in deepest flood
Sensual passion took hold, HE was in her blood
Could ever reality break such binding chains
Or future nights denied, bring ever greater pains?

He saw such beauty, such grace in her soft blue eyes
Thinking this was treasure reality 'oft denies
His longings then burst forth like a collapsing dam
She then gave that smile that cried out, " here I am"
Mad raging thoughts came of sweetest nights in her bed
Magnificent fantasy born in heart and head!

Party over, neither had a single word said.
Moment had come, now just as swiftly, it had fled!

    The Sudden Realization

As golden sun soaked a soft blue sky
cool breeze and passion let love therein fly
floating were soft vibrant notes, ecstasy
    as Time flowed into infinity.
She came, a ravishing goddess so true
hurried right past past me onto you
another tragedy born to right there
again world proving that life is not fair.

As sun set on that sad and fateful day
a young lad fished at the local bay
waters were calm and this truth he then knew
All is not right just because skies are blue.

There Just Beyond That Long Black Sea Curtain

Across the expanse, twilight's beckoning mystery
Far flung over hidden thundering, splashing waves
Lies the unknown, extension of man's history
Adventure begging footsteps of the true and brave
Centuries, that call has cried, "come- take a chance"
Journey in search of love, treasure, life and much more
Such that in great palaces hold Love and Romance
Wealth and sweet pleasures in those far off golden shores.
Beyond the horizon, past that enticing wall
There awaits, the promise of streets paved with gold
Listen and dare to heed that soft enchanting call
Walk into the unknown, dare to be truly bold!

To be had, sailing beyond those sea foaming veils
That which the bravest adventurer's heart knows true
Treasures, romance as told in many sailor's tales
All beyond, far beyond, waiting for me and you!

Just slammed this one out in the new lounge thread.

Once, there was a time when deep heartache came to call
A young lad had his first crazy, soul-wrecking fall
When love had ebbed and then somehow ran its course
From delicious fantasy came a sad divorce
A lesson learned, death of love came the hard way
What was once purest joy turned a somber gray
Now a memory, one that so often hurts so
When a beautiful angel said she had to go.

    The poem

Youth And Memories, Sweet Times Never Again To Be Found

Days that where wonderful even if pouring rain
Youth and blind-dog courage going against the grain
O' memory don't ya send old man a frown
Gift feelings of flying up, never coming down
I want to kiss now, those soft lips sweet Mandy had
Those steamy hot nights, that almost drove us both mad
We were dreaming of leaving that damn one-horse town
But in this crazy ole world something brought that frown.

There was a crying moon the night she ran to flee
Her heart crying because she wanted to be free
My poor soul a'breaking at the sight of her gone
I was falling, while Mandy had far away flown
Nothing to do but wail at the death left behind
Knowing never again such angel would I find.

O'heart cast this memory and ache far away
Life that year turned into a nightmarish gray
There bitter-black cold in the middle of July
And a heartbroken soul, taught how to deeply cry.

Nothing to do but wail at the death left behind
Knowing never again such angel would I find.

Where, O' Where Baby Did You Hide That Key

Where, O' where baby did you hide that key
THAT UNLOCKS THIS RUSTY CHAIN HOLDING ON ME
Is behind shadows in yesterday's floor
OR THERE FAR AWAY ON SOME FOREIGN SHORE
Baby, baby, would it make me love feel
THAT LIFE AND YOUR KISS COULD BE MY NEXT MEAL?

Where, O' where baby did you hide that key
THAT UNLOCKS THIS RUSTY CHAIN HOLDING ME

Where, O' where baby did you hide that key
THAT UNLOCKS THIS RUSTY CHAIN HOLDING ME
Is it down in that hidden farmhouse well
OR JUST BEYOND THE FLAMING GATES OF HELL
Baby, baby, would it make me deny
YOUR BEAUTY WAS THE SOFT BLUE IN THE SKY?

Where, O' where baby did you hide that key
THAT UNLOCKS THIS RUSTY CHAIN HOLDING ME

Angel, Angel, Stir Again Sweet Love Lost

Memory, the ghost of a lost love, a vision
    A vixen, a visionary, a heartbeat
When youth bellowed, with vapid imprecisions
And life greedily swallowed all it could eat-

The night, the sky, the moon,
    the angel with flaming sword
The song, the love, the tune
Rampaging of malevolent world's angry horde

Angel, angel, stir again sweet love lost,
Send dawn's new glory and tenderest kiss
Pray I this, I care not the heavy cost
For now, she and love I so dearly miss-

In my anguish, sorrows did her heart crush,
All taken away by my heartless greed
I then acted in a maddening rush
To satisfy one of my worldly needs

She that was sweet and truly there for me
Her soul pure and her heart beating so true
I in my blindness poisoned love's tree
In my error now receive what I am due-

This I beg, mercy be given to me
True redemption cast from a hand divine
Perhaps a healing to set us both free
New romance to our stars again align.

Spring's First Morn, Promise Of Those Rising Seeds

When seeking beauty, 'tis the rose I choose
Its flaming reds, 'oft love and truth infuse
And so reminds fine poetry of Keats
Or delicious taste of chocolate sweets
Yet dawn's sweet awakening Shelley sings
That flowers are the purest Heart of Spring!

But mind cries out, what of the yellow rose
Can it dance in the image that you chose
Shout out its songs, as does a meadow lark
Express its glory- vanquish the deep dark
Will aura of soft rose thy heart imbue
That beauty and truth spirit 'oft renews?

When Spring's waking heart, radiant truth shows
Dare we ignore majesty of the rose
    And awakening, its beauty inspires
Blossoming spark that sets anew love's fires
How such sights sears into ones heart and mind
Essence of Life and a soul true and kind?

Spring's first morn, promise of those rising seeds
Joy of flowers that a soul often needs
    Wafting aromatic smell, sunlit rose
So pleases the eyes, delights eager nose
Inspiring beauty in its soft splendor
Sings of Love and Kisses sweet and tender!

Nemesis, Confrontation And The Rejoined Battle,
    Now Completed

    (Nemesis) - Part One

O'lord of blight dare thee to now abide
Leaving thy abode to earthen realm ride
As punisher with dark universal might
As grief bearer, humanity to smite!

Dar'est thee enter, after I so yield
Sheathed my sword, tossed away my shield
I that in sorrow abandoned battlefields
Seeking love, sweet peace and love's greener fields!

Venomous ire, thee again cross my path
To wage war and sate thy evil wrath
I that settled to in peace, here now live
And in the earthen realm yet again give!

Thee a true nemesis of fruitful life
Author of Hate, Evil and Human strife
Spreader of hate, plagues, and even worse
Dark sower of thy ever wicked curse!

Nemesis- thy hate I shall not allow
Nor to its savage commands ever bow
Thus I return as warrior to my place
And with divine aid thy great evil face!

I that now pledge again my solemn vow
With truth, courage and light defeat somehow
Thy legions of destruction, thy hate
Thy rejoining with darkest hand of Fate!

In this my great oath, my renewed pledge
Leave I safety, step over the edge
Not as a man, with horrid, vengeful hate
But crusader, before it is too late!

Robert J. Lindley, began in April 1981
    (Nemesis)

    ( Nemesis ) -- Part Two

O' lord of darkness, my home- you I see
As your dark minions so represent thee
From dark-cast corners out they freely race
Imbued with evil, devoid of grace.

Accursed seeds of thy hate-spewing loins
Free to tempt mankind with your poison coins
Yet with Light and Truth this blackness I see
As wickedness from thy hideous tree.

Day and night into this old house they prance
Whispering morbid curses as they dance
    I their buffoonery quickly defeat
Off they go- flames burning from clawed feet.

What an affront that such weaklings you send
You in your pride -swift victory pretend
For such foolishness I drew not my blade
Defeating with pure relish your first raid.

With Faith, Hope and Light, this warrior stands
Never bowing to your evil demands
I can see the future hour you take flight
As you are expelled, ending our fight.

Watch as this battle begins to unfold
With same results as was in the days old
Wherein, swift Sword of Light -cut you so deep
That whilst flying away- black tears you weep.

So set your mark- daring to bring your best
For in defeat, I bid you be my guest
Tomorrow morn, I again grab my shield
To find what depths of blood shall be spilled.

    ( Nemesis ) -- Part Three

Dawn breaks and sincerely its sweet calls sends
Unaware of battle the future portends
I the warrior polish my shield to shine
Knowing on my soul the beast expects to dine.

Yet from the dark shadows not a single word
As wind brings the melody of a songbird
My sword now unsheathed and razor sharp
Above sounds the notes of a divine harp.

Reminding today I face darkness and death
I bow to pray in a whispering breath
Have I greater faith in our God of Hosts
For soon the dark lord my soul thinks to roast.

Nature sends word- blessings be sent unto you
May victory be yours, the best get its dues
Suns beams down proclaiming a brighter day
Golden rays beating away shadowy grays.

From the distant hills a rumbling blast sounds
Within this heaving chest, eager heart pounds
Soon, so soon the great battle shall commence
I summon courage to this soul convince.

Suddenly sun flees away, dark clouds appear
I know the dark Lord now grows very near
Yet a new calm then within this heart grows
Steadfast courage accepts the soon coming blows.

I rise giving thanks the battle is not at night
For victory I desperately need bright light
Next the shadows all give a rousing cheer
From immense darkness, the monster appears!

    ( Nemesis ) (Conclusion) -- Part Four

Suddenly as mammoth beast upward rears
In its huge head, were seven ancient spears
Evidence of past battles that failed
Death may not come being spear impaled.

Flash from my blade caught its fierce fiery eyes
It shouting out your light this beast defies
I that lived even before this earth
Shall now measure your sharp steel, your true worth.

With that a mighty claw swiped my shield
Its sudden lunge shook the hard rocky field
My sword caught the other claw in mid stroke
Gashing out its red-blood to the ground soak.

Next its horned tail swept me off my feet
As it roared out, soon you I will eat
Come feeble child, let us dance well today
Or do you want time to uselessly pray.

In anger my next stroke slashed its side
My deep hatred I could no longer hide
All my power went into the next blow
More the hot gushing blood began to flow.

Then it came, horrendous burning hot flame
This was by far its most powerful game
Only divine armor saved my life
With its sacred words carved by my knife.

Verum licet potentia animae caelum nunc pugnare*
Force that only universe can compare
Hideous beast roared-such is not fair
I cried death- step closer if you dare.

With epic pain and a maddening hate
The mighty beast rushed to meet its fate
As my blade went deep into its black heart
Gone were the great powers those words impart.

Death's answer as was destined to be
By God's divine mercy was it not me
The beast had met a much higher power
Had succumbed at the appointed hour.

Sky then opened, pleasing wind then blew
I gazed at beast that divine words slew
Kneeling, gave thanks to the Heavens above
That we are given Light and Divine Love!

*Verum licet potentia animae caelum nunc pugnare.
    Latin- Translated-
"May with Heaven's true might this soul now fight."

    2nd note:
Was a very hard task for me to find a way (time and energy),
And an inspired ending for this narrative tale.
The older I get, the harder it seems to write and be satisfied with the results.
This will have to do- as perhaps the last time that comes --
" Verum licet potentia animae caelum nunc pugnare "…

When Ravenous Wolf, Prowls At Our Home's Open Door

Of beauty, paintings, flowers and smothering Art
Dares not the innocent truth- ever the race start
Or prisoner, trapped lamb- shear its own white fleece
By all the vanished gods, Death's hands embrace Greece
And dawn's beauty loses its most radiant glow
Whilst blighted forests listens to cackles of crows!

When ravenous wolf, prowls at our home's open door.
We must take action and not its mercy implore!

Down in the dark valleys, poisoned rivers freeze
Beasts above, seek delicious prey with such ease
Alas! Dare we in futile wish cry tis no so
And in fanciful dreams -beg that peace and love show
Within hope of tomorrows, believe such will cease
For we recall, magnificent heroes of Greece!

When ravenous wolf, prowls at our home's open door.
We must take action and not its mercy implore!

Life and Love must walk through darkest days hand in hand
In this our thought to be enlightened world we stand
Not as sheep to be slaughtered at merest of whims
If we fear ravenous sharks in seas we'd not swim
Or during pitch black nights we would cower inside
And miss seeing the heavens and moon's golden ride!

When ravenous wolf, prowls at our home's open door.
We must take action and not its mercy implore!

Such temerity would joys of life thus abolish
Do we allow world its false mirrors to polish
Nay! We prove such hatefulness we will not abide
While in arms of love and truth, we with grace reside
Shall we pray that ever greater Light gift us more
On us all, God's sweet mercy Heaven softly pours!

When ravenous wolf, prowls at our home's open door.
We must take action and not its mercy implore!
