Of The Life, The Great Loss, The Solemn Plea

Across the cold chasm of that great divide
were flung the salty tears I could not hide
and epic darkness of a weeping soul
aching sorrows that took a heavy toll
O'gasping voice- shall thy complaints be heard
by whispering wind or by poet's word
in that a life mystery there gave birth
from those youthful days and innocent mirth
pray I, joy again of a much freer me
with swifter rescue from despair's aching sea!

O'mercy, dare thee this heart quickly heal
bless this soul, renewing love's dancing zeal
cast happy net, its loving gems therein reap
beauty and truth, gems to forever keep
whilst in my pleadings- I beg for much more
than unjust solitude on a foreign shore
remember what you asked me to swear
now failure- my loss more than I can bear
may I sworn rendezvous now truly keep
and you forgive me before my final sleep!

Fated were the blues of that darkest day
perhaps even these words I must now say
you my darling, were everything to me
but of freedom's needs, we could not agree
I that sought far, far more than was my due
live now despondent despair missing you
can you feel intense pain of this broken heart
with your tender heart gift us a restart
gift our lives, treasure of renewed love
so again, we may kiss 'neath Heavens above!

O'mercy, dare thee this heart quickly heal
bless this soul, renewing love's dancing zeal
cast happy net, its loving gems therein reap
beauty and truth, gems to forever keep?

    New Note: 6-14-2021
This is from my ancient graveyard of hidden poems.
Another time that in my youth I went far astray
I when looking back, see it like it was yesterday
And can yet again feel the pangs of a love destroyed
This may now, see the bright cleansing light of day
From wild youth, when I once let my vanity hold sway.
Decided to not edit this, leave it as was written when in
throes of deepest sorrows, heart was cut to shreds..

Rare day- I wrote a poem today, after my having presented this one above that was
about 45 years old. here it is- inspired by a comment Sam made on the older poem...-Tyr

In Ancient Graveyard Of Hidden Poems, Truth Danced

In ancient graveyard of hidden poems, truth danced
Hiding deep, as romance keeps, a girl romanced
I a young man let verses sing as they pranced
Yet folly was true, gambling on love I chanced
Soon knight fallen, through guilty heart I was lanced!

Day and night took turns as my sad soul they burned
As my life wept, inner oceans spun and churned
Growing sick as each dark, crying page was turned
In despair, I tore my hair- feeling love spurned
Now lost -get her back, any cost- I so yearned!

First of many, sorrowing and guilt aplenty
I saw world die, had my cries and turned twenty
Far too blue to work I woke without a penny
With my life destroyed and debts far too many
I begged midnight moon send my loving Jenny!

As dawn its golden light therein so brightly shown
Paid no bills, fled I to barn deeply overgrown
While feeling free, woe was me- nothing did I own
Wicked dreams, they came with nightmarish undertones
Break of day, hills they sway with- my loud aching moans!

In ancient graveyard of hidden poems, truth danced
Hiding deep, as romance keeps, a girl romanced
I a young man let verses sing as they pranced
Yet folly was true, gambling on love I chanced
Soon knight fallen, through guilty heart I was lanced!

" This is from my ancient graveyard of hidden poems."
I went right to it and this new creation I wrote..

Chained To This World, Chained To My Fate

Chained to this world, chained to my Fate.
I want love, sadly feel it is too late.

I see beauty of Nature's speckled fawn
Yet feel not glory of soft-rising dawn
Life is a battle, never been my friend
In all my nightmarish dreams, I beg its end
Once was a dream-kiss but that is over
The bees all died in the poison clover
Now wicked world lands heartache at my feet
In this life, one wins only if they cheat
I remember that day, that horrid date
When love left me, left me to my Fate!

Chained to this world, chained to my Fate.
I want love, sadly feel it is too late.

When I Rethink Glory Days Of My Youth

When I rethink glory days of my youth
I always find some sad and bitter truths
First is, world and reality always bites
And to rise above, one must always fight
Be it at dawn's sweet rise and dark of night!

In recalling, see my deeds my failings
All my past, all my current new wailings
Bitter the wind that bears that sadden news
With it comes another round of the blues
And thus, I vow in life to better choose!

In that lonesome state of deep pondering
    Mind continues its inner wanderings
    Recreating fantasies to relieve
This heart and soul from dark that deceives
Walk again the path that blessings receives!

When I rethink glory days of my youth
I always find some sad and bitter truths
First is, world and reality always bites
And to rise above, one must always fight
Be it at dawn's sweet rise and dark of night!

Awesome Gems, As Were Set By Divine Measure

The Sun, a shimmering sky fired lake
Oft penetrating the soul, body and heart
No worries, shining glow it never fakes
    Radiant beauty it freely imparts!
Who has never sang praises for its gifts
Those stirring dawns, its beauty basking in
Flow, oft as fine as a great guitar rift
Bequeathing, that which we beg for again!

The Sky, O' the grace of its flowing blue
Oft so deeply -setting hearts aflutter
In youth, we reached for it as we grew
Tho' from its raging storms we oft shutter
Awesome when we see heavenly night views
And dare to ponder in our wealth of dreams
Oft we'd fly up to live if we could choose
Float away in its bright galactic streams!

The Sun, the Sky, our earth's beautiful dome
Indeed, both a most sweet blessed treasure
Nature's allies - its bounty in this our home
Awesome gems, as were set by divine measure!

    Note:
This creation, inspired by a most blessed
and beautiful dream last night. A poet must
consider such golden treasure as is gifted
and rise to the occasion to preserve it in
poetic verses, to give back unto the world.
Even when ones muse says, "you are not up
to the task my friend"! One quite simply
    must then so dare!

I Go There But Just Cannot Get It Back

I go there but just cannot get it back
The buildings there are quite a bit older
But no loud trains run down that iron track
I was young then, strong and very much bolder.

I go there but just cannot get it back
The buildings there are quite a bit older
Time has left me only an empty sack
And reminders of lies I once told her.

I beg, beg loud to yet again hear it
That sweet music of love and heart sounding
The kind that once so well soothed my spirit
I feel in prison now darkness surrounding.

I beg, beg loud to yet again hear it
That sweet music of love and heart sounding
O'lord that darkness I do so fear it
In dreams rabid beasts are my life hounding.

I go there but just cannot get it back
The buildings there are quite a bit older
But no loud trains run down that iron track
I was young then, strong and very much bolder.

    Rhyme, repetition and revelations

    Note One :
Searching, searching , searching for a lost truth
Yet again I went to small town of my youth
Yet only silence was there to be found
And in these iron chains I am still bound
Yet try as I may and try as I might
Getting it back is an impossible fight
And no matter the bitter tears I bleed
Time and Fate both gladly deny my need
But when the dam breaks and I feel that urge
Through these veins aching red blood surge
I find myself racing down that old path
Praying against hope, against life's dark wrath

Searching, searching , searching for a lost truth
Yet again I went to small town of my youth
Yet only silence was there to be found
And in these iron chains I am still bound.

    Note Two:
You just can never go back!!!

The Late Night Consultation, The Compromise, The New Delusion

Three nights of sadness, each a woe'some torture,
on that narrow ledge a cold raging deep within
I having lost that which I had foresworn to hold
and in that realization- saw myself as a true fool.

While wearing a smooth path on the silent floor
apathy and pain, moonlit beams beat on a crying soul
no amount of self-delusion calmed that sorrow
nor gave reprieve from guilt of a rash youthful act.

Sure there were those moments that I almost won
a compromise between aching heart and sad soul
but reality- its harsh resurrection invaded the scene
and dark despair into the room again loomed large.

Nothing to do but find a way to wake to a new dawn
get busy again with life and its many paths to take
yes, such clever deception had oft worked in the past
and does not each dawn promise a desirous new start?

There In The Fast Fading Shadows Of Looming Dusk

There in the fast fading shadows of looming dusk
emptiness sighing as space in an empty husk
broken only by the dark whispering of Fate
and swirls of wind playing savage tunes of- "too late",
Dare I, to enter through its harsh welcoming door
attempting to deny that gaping hole life tore
or remain here to feel coming of midnight blues
assume courage, to fight in a better man's shoes!
Woe the poorer choices in this life we must make
to seize the fleeting moment or else bake a cake
whilst waiting for saving grace that oft does not come
hoping and finding, the gain is less than the sum,
Shall I, step back and deny this dark, dooming hour
beg heart and soul to again gift that awesome power
or else just flip a coin, let Fate again decide
renew life or else in emptiness again hide?

Dare I, to enter through its harsh welcoming door.
Attempting to deny that gaping hole life tore.

to face such adversity in life. That which youth is
almost always incapable of making the correct decision.
Wherein greater wisdom was demanded and youth had
not yet gained such. And sometimes never does...

From The Saddest Depths Of Bitter Despair

    Within this heart love born
    once beloved now scorn
    fills each little crevice
    life seems out of service
    bitter cold turns the wind
dark sets its pains to send
    Alas! Loneliness reaps
    broken shards into heaps
    while moonlight will not shine
on these blues I now dine
    and the aches seem endless
    here, I am now friendless
    dark on this soul assails
    nobody hears my wails
In this chasm I soft weep
So, so cold, dark and deep

    Within this heart love born.
    Once beloved now scorn.

Vows Of Love That Time And Distance Can Not Deny

Beyond the ocean and high clifftop ledge
Across great expanse of water and skies
Two lovers far apart gave loving pledge
vowing truest of loving never dies.
Each longing for fever of midnight dreams
welcoming beats of tender, aching cries
Whilst wading through youthful life as a team
insuring their foresworn oath never dies.

In the distance, bright pharos blinking glow
As if in time with lovers longing hearts
Each in night's waning hours wanting to know
Again that sweet each loving kiss imparts.
Deep rising crescendo of true love's ache
With romantic, sensual - hot delights
Rhythm of loving taste as tide's splashing breaks
As two hearts gasps beauty of tender nights.

Waking to vernal freshness of dawn's rays
Giving thanks for bounty of love's blessings
As each, across the ocean bows to pray
Love's eternity - both are confessing.

    Note:
    (1.) *pharos=
(lowercase) any lighthouse or beacon to direct sailors.

    (2.)*vernal=
    ver·nal /'v?rnl/ , adjective
of, in, or appropriate to spring.

    Note two-
Excuse the many edits but fate, time, future insights
demanded a few changes from the original as was
first composed by a very none world hardened poet of
a mere youthfully blind 26 years old, in the year
    of 1980.
Removed were several dark verses warning of the
many pitfalls of love and life that I, as have so very
many other young lads- found to be a quite sad part of
love when it fails. This new and heavily edited version
represents the beauty and blessing of love when it
triumphs and gifts its dearest, greatest sweet treasures….

Grandma, The Farm And The Silent Young Cat

Before soft golden rays the roses slept
Night, its slumbers had not yet bid adieu
From its barn perch the young, silent cat leapt
Upon the old farmer's empty brown shoe
And from the farmhouse, breakfast call rang out
Grandma had no time for late sleepyheads
In her sternest voice, she gave warning shout
"Up and at'em, all rascals out of bed"!

That ringing throughout the place came alive
The cat swiftly raced to the backdoor
Soon as it opened in it would dive
To chase away mice was its daily chore
Table set with coffee, eggs and pancakes
Surrounded by those hungry mouths to feed
So delicious like only grandma could make
Out we went to fed livestock and plant seeds.

Midnoon the roses glowed vibrant red
Each paid homage to life and mother sun
Decked around the porch and the old shed
Grandma watered them having such fun
That garden and her kids her pride and joy
She still agile and spry at eighty two
With sweet memories of her three young boys
She thanking God for her wonderful life
Had loved being a mother and wife.

Before soft golden rays the roses slept
Night, its slumbers had not yet bid adieu
From its barn perch the young, silent cat leapt
Upon the old farmer's empty brown shoe
And from the farmhouse, breakfast call rang out
Grandma had no time for late sleepyheads
In her sternest voice, she gave warning shout
"Up and at'em, all rascals out of bed"!

    Note:
As was promised, I wrote this new poem today,
using the phrase, the silent cat leapt-as was noted
from the haiku in my new blog, title-
"The Image, The Inner Reaches Of The Mind"
Thank you, James Marshall Goff for noting it
as your favorite line of that poem….
I promised to write a poem using that phrase
    and have now done so.

From The Depths Of A Shadowy Ford

" the crystal dream of a sun-nurtured soul."-- quote by RJL

I, will seek the silent ways'
    unknown in summer days,
I will linger with the flowers
    Ungreeted in lost hours.
    I will go quietly
    That I may be
    Companion of peaceful things, -
    The brook that sings
    Its murmuring song
    The woodland shade along,
    The moorland wide
    At purple eventide,
The clouds that in the morning Sun
Vanish in beauty, and are one
    With pure, unutterable love
And those dear presences that move
    Ever around us, even when
We lose the way of trusty men.
    I wouldst forget that I
    May draw nigh
    The deeper memories.

    I will arise
And leave you, and thus find
The deathlessness I was too blind
    To see among your swift-run days;
    My ways
Shall be among the immortal flowers
    Born of your darkest hours.

from the ancient days of youth, innocent truth,
dreams, life , love and a hard scrabble to exist with a

always sought to destroy me then.

The Bloodstone, The Raven And Master Poe,
    Part One

The ancient stone, here Raven bled
    Cursed and flew away alone
To follow the dark and make its night-bed
Unholy accursed path, bloody the stone
From the abyss, into light of the earth
With Fate and anger, its darkest of hands
A beast reborn - shadow of devil's worth
A repugnant new plague upon this land.

Woe! To the unsuspecting that are blind
Wading through life, unaware of the beast
A heart slayer, infester of the mind
Ravenous for innocence, its great feast
Invisible to most, a curse to few
Relentless in darkest of wicked guile
Ever seeking the cries of victims new
Witty its bold actions, patience its style.

For centuries it search to he then meet
And with the cleverness of its black wit
At his house uninvited take a seat
Torment nightly, drive insane- bit by bit
Blind to the ghastly creature was young Poe
He that life and love had been so tragic
Raven decided, put on a fine show
By showcasing its best evil magic.

First to wake its victim at midnight hour
An ungodly screech a soft tapping sound
From the walls, using its wicked powers
Then whisper, to further its victim hound
For years Poe pretended not to such hear
He was busy, with writing his great verse
No time for such nonsense, no time for fear
Deny the truth of this tiresome new curse

In so doing, shut out this bothersome beast
Pen sweeter words of love and write, write, write
Enjoy fame, his being toast of the East
Phantom ignore, that newborn curse of night
Yet to Raven, this was but the new game
Had it not, its greatest victim now found
And in glee, flew aloft screaming that name
Swearing an oath to one day have Poe bound.

Walk A Straight Road, And Never Spit Into The Wind

Yes to the morn and its ravishing glows
As a male I was born, with strength to spare
Complete with hairy chest and stubby toes
Reared to fight on a bet and a dare
Thank God and Fate I a warrior true born
Walked the walk and bucked the wild horse
Learned to grab the old bull by the horns
Was taught to faithfully stay the true course.

Now this man remembers such wise advice
Walk straight road, never spit into the wind
Be a kind and true friend, learn to play nice
Live life fully right up until the end.

Slow sip whiskey, give women due respect.
Work hard, never your loved ones neglect.

The Bloodstone, The Raven And Master Poe,
    Part Two of Three

For seven years it had been wickedly clever
Doing just enough to sate its wicked desires
When begged to stop. Alas it cried, never
Not until your soul rests on the burning pyres
Yet Poe now keenly aware this was no dream
And with accursed fever, praying it to cease
Sought help from a young friend to form a team
Anything, anything to gain his release.

Raven now knew it was time to a truth real
That soon, very soon, it would make Poe cry
And with fiendish delight his true love kill
And forever all of his happiness deny
That night Poe lost it, flew into a rage
Scribing vows that few men would dare to utter
His blood was ink splashing onto each page
Gnashing teeth as each word he would mutter.

Raven too had hatched a brilliant new plan
A week he invisibly watched -showing no sign
Having realized Poe that was no ordinary man
Watching with hellish glee, as Poe scribed each line
This great battle was to be a battle of wits
Spread from night skies down to Plutonian shores
Beneath burning rocks into dark putrid pits
Two warriors set about to even the scores.

Poe rose each morn, a new fire in his steady eyes
For he could not Raven's dreaded threat forget
He must never blink- always seek to true prize
For nothing like this beast had he ever met
Raven each night, flew up from far below
With only inflicting pain on its hellish mind
That its hate was immense and each night grows
Could not see, that it would soon make it blind.

Thinking, smiling with time, time was on its side
And had not Fate to its evil demands agreed
Raven wings stretched for a victory ride
So very content to watch Poe's heart bleed
Yet Fate and Poe both decried its dark heart
In determination was born a plan
One sure to upset Raven's applecart
Must be executed as a long range plan.

It would use Raven's immense vanity
As well rely on a couple old traps
Twist or two to test Raven's sanity
And have Raven running few hundred laps
Poe who had never depended on Fate
Was all in as it was sure to go well
Raven would discover it far too late
And wake to again find itself in Hell.

First to inform about the game, Poe's friend
A young lad most clever and truly bright
He would have to hate Poe, only pretend
And make Raven believe it that dark night
Now to get the dagger and blood-red ink
Rehearse the scene while Raven was away
Water down the whiskey Poe was to drink
And in its success each sincerely pray.

Night again came, Raven was there with glee
Raven sat with its happy evil soul
Poe's room was dark almost too dark to see
Was necessary to achieve the goal
Poe began by decrying his sad plight
The constant torment was driving him mad
Complaining this agony was not right
What had he ever done that was so bad?

Muttering how his life he would soon end
And join his beloved in that dark place
Death take me, Poe called- this poor soul send
That again I may see her pretty face
Raven watching, thought this is what I need
Poe destroyed dying in deep disgrace
Beg I true evil let me see him bleed
No other joy could ever this replace!

    Note:
Part three is about halfway written, to complete
this horror tale it will be quite a bit longer than
the previous two parts and will definitely require
some time to edit and finalize... So bear with me
as my having been ill has slowed me down a lot.

    Raging Waters

From the glow of dawn and its golden rays
comes the promise of life and so much more
therein love's bounty its mysterious ways,
life rewards and opens beautiful doors.
The many that are blind to such true gifts
sadly walk into the dark to succumb
to the raging waters deep and so swift
in futile silent passage blind and dumb.
